Default Impose demand. Adapt. Rinse. Repeat until ∞.

I have a really cool name. But my body doesn’t match the bad-ass image I have in my head when I think about how awesome my name is.

I mean, really. Otto Hammersmith. That’s just freakin’ awesome. I should be awesome to match it.

So what is awesome? What is perfect? Perfect is what I’d have after chipping away for ∞. That’s the thing I forget. I start thinking there’s some endpoint. But an end isn’t awesome, or perfect, or even close. It’s good enough. Good enough doesn’t make me feel good. I know that. Even so, I think “good enough” and slack off. At 260, at 270, at 280 it doesn’t matter.

“Good enough” is death to momentum.

I need to look myself in the mirror every morning and know that the body I have right in that moment is the best one it could possibly be. It’ll take time, but that’s what’s important. Current state, not past progress, not future progress. Where I am right now and knowing that it just couldn’t possibly be any better.

Better is stronger.

Better is leaner.

Better is faster.

Sure there will be lull’s.

But a lull still has forward progress. It’s recovery not damaging yourself and losing ground.

That’s why I can’t in good faith call the last four months a lull.

Was it only four months? I’m afraid to check.

I lost ground.

So be it. But I’m better today than I was yesterday. And I’ll be better tomorrow than I am today. Rinse. Repeat until ∞. Simple formula, right?

Anyway, time for the meta.

This log is for me. It’s actual home is in a file on my computer. I’ll probably post most of it here and a couple other places. I might not. I might even make myself write something in it every day. I might not.

One thing for sure, if I go silent, someone tap me on the (virtual) shoulder… chances are I’m ultra-busy. But I could be off the rails and that’s no good.

I started a new playlist. Called it “Workout (to be indestructible”). First song on it was from the new Disturbed album, aptly named Indestructible.

Lyrics for Indestructible from Disturbed's lated album. My favorite part goes—
“You need to know that you’re in for the fight of your life
You will be shown how I’ve become indestructible
Determination that is incorruptible”
An appropriate sentiment for someone making himself an indestructible hammer deserving of a fuckin’ awesome name, yes?

Default The crunchy bits.

So for the crunchy bits of this log, now that I’ve gotten the fluffy bits out of the way. (For the record, this is actually a day or two later, I should probably date these.)

I’m using the TNT workouts. I keep making myself restart because of a week or six break from lifting. Longest streak, yet. This one will stick. Friday was my last one, I’ll post details later. I’ll probably do what Aoife’s been doing and just scan the log pages. It’s easy that way.

I’ve not been following a specific diet plan. I was following TNT for a while, but that fell by the wayside when I let myself get too caught up in work and gained 15 in 2 months (WTF!!). We’ve gotten Precision Nutrition, so I’m reading that now. It’s not terribly different from the Berardi article, Tailor-Made Nutrition so really the difference has to be a mental change. I get that. *Imagine deleted sentence here concentrating on the negative, not the positive* More details on that front to come.

Good news is 5 of that 15 is already gone.

It's nice to see that you didn't include this in the "fluffy" part (or any other part, for that matter):

Oh yeah, nice start Major props for the Disturbed reference. That's currently just about all that plays in my car and at the gym (MP3 player, of course ).

Such a tease, why not just link to the Flickr set? (Surprisingly, that set is SFW, even.)

That's Justine Joli, BTW. Not that anyone here would know who she is...

Default Week 23, 2008

It’s about time there was an actual workout in here. This was my last week's worth of workouts. My plan is to keep up-to-date rather than dumping a whole week’s worth of information in a single day, but here it is.

It was a basic 3 lift week. I'm getting pretty fast with TNT, I can get the whole thing done in under 25 minutes, which is handy.

I'm having serious issues with plank. I used to be able to do a minute plus without too much trouble. Now I can't seem to get more than 10 seconds in any one go. Maybe it's just doing it at the end of my workout. I'll give it a try on a non-lift day just to see.

Catching up on my last workout, since the forum was down. This was Monday. About to go do the B workout of TNT after dinner and some Lego Indy.

Next one of this workout bumps to 3 sets. It should be pretty intense... and no longer getting done in 20 minutes.
