Default Knee pain with NROL4W

My fiance' has been experiencing knee pain the last couple of months, so I suggested seeking some assistance here.

She doesn't have medical insurance until after we're married at the end of Oct. so won't be seeing a physician anytime soon (unless it becomes severe, which we're hoping to avoid).

Any knowledgable assistance would be much appreciated. Here's her information:

1. When did the pain begin? Middle of March 08.
2. What were you doing at the time? Or did the pain come on gradually over time? I started the New Rules of Lifting for Women and the last 2 weeks of workouts, pain began intermittently increasing enough to be of notice after workout. It eventually became a daily pain even on days with no workout. I am experiencing no other severe muscle soreness as a result of the workout.
3. Where, anatomically, is the pain? Upper part of the knee, just above the knee cap
4. What does the pain feel like? Sharp? Dull? Aching? Stabbing? Shooting? Dull tightness, aching and pulling. When I stand up, sit down, kneel, use stairs, I feel a tight very stabbing pulling pain
5. Is the pain constant, or intermittent, or only on certain motions? Only on sitting, standing, stairs and other kneeling actions. There is some dull aching if sitting for long periods (movie etc)
6. What motions make your pain worse? Standing, sitting, kneeling movements and walking up and down stairs
7. What, if anything, makes your pain better? So far nothing except a break from the gym (not an option)
8. Does your pain radiate to any other part of your body? No
9. What things could you do before, that you cannot do now because of your injury? No total prevention of any activities, but mobility is hampered and my workouts are not as productive
10. What is your main concern regarding the pain and its consequences? Long term disabilities, inability to continue with a workout program
11. Have you ever injured that part of your body before? If so, how? I had tracking problems in high school (approx. 15 yrs ago) with pain below the knee. This pain is very different in feel and position.
12. Is your pain getting worse over time? And if so, how much worse over what time period? Yes. From the middle of March when I started experiencing tightness occasionally after a hard workout (stage 1 of the NROL4W) until now (4-25-08) (stage 2) when I have pain daily, every time I sit, stand or walk up and down stairs.

Thank you,

R

She probably needs to add in a good quad stretch. 30+ second hold, each leg twice, twice a day (after lifting and one other time). Ice it after workouts. Make sure her form is good on the squats, lunges, step ups etc especially that she is properly activating her glutes and not relying on quads.
