Muscle pain in upper back
1. When did the pain begin? yesterday morning, first thing
2. What were you doing at the time? Or did the pain come on gradually over time? I was doing some dynamic stretching, jumpsquats and pushups. I felt a pain while I was performing jumpingjacks oddly enough, hurt when I raised my arm
3. Where, anatomically, is the pain? On my right side, right next to my shoulderblade, kinda between my spine and shoulderblade.
4. What does the pain feel like? Sharp? Dull? Aching? Stabbing? Shooting? It's a dull pain most of the time, and really hurts when I look downward(try to touch chin on chest)
5. Is the pain constant, or intermittent, or only on certain motions? It's a realively constant dull pain, and doesn't hurt much more in any range of motion besides looking down.
6. What motions make your pain worse? Looking down, and maybe looking to the extreme left or right.
7. What, if anything, makes your pain better? Not much.
8. Does your pain radiate to any other part of your body?No
9. What things could you do before, that you cannot do now because
of your injury? Nothing really.
10. What is your main concern regarding the pain and its
consequences? I want to know if this is a common pain and if it is relatively slow healing. I want to lift again, but afraid of aggravating it even more.
11. Have you ever injured that part of your body before? If so, how? Nope
12. Is your pain getting worse over time? And if so, how much worse
over what time period? It's the same as yesterday, maybe a little more stiff?
Some other stuff:
Prior to this, I contracted some kind of stomach virus that really knocked me out for a couple of days, with yesterday being the first day I felt like doing anything fitness related at all.....still didn't feel up to performing a weight session and kinda "drained"
Also, this muscle pull? has me wondering about my posture and shoulder issues. I have been working on my posture, both standing and sitting and they have gotten a lot better. However, I think I might have "elevated shoulderblades"? Just wondering if this injury might be because of this and would doing stuff like a lot of pushups aggravate the problem?
