Default ACL Reconstruction

I am just a month out from having ACL reconstruction surgery the beginning of January. Prior to the surgery I was working out daily on the Eliptical. PT says only to do the Eliptical 5-6 minutes per day. What are some other exercises that I may be able to do at home that will help me from putting on weight while I can't work out like I could before? I am watching what I eat, but I need some physical activity to feel better too. This is driving me nuts to sit around all day. I can't go outside as everything is a sheet of ice and the Doc warned to not slip and fall.

Your best bet is to ask the therapist. You should have a boatload of exercises that you should be doing daily at home. That should be your first priority. If you have access to a stationary bike, that might be another thing you can do but you need to check with your therapist as he/she is familiar with your specific surgery and the protocol that the surgeon has established.

If you are a cardio bunny and looking for something alternative to do, you are probably out of luck for a while. Focus instead on push ups, chins, and your rehab exercises.

Use this as a time to read up on some different types of training programs that might best suit your needs, and goals. Rather than just doing stready state cardio daily maybe this can be a time to start incorporating weight training. Good luck.
