Default Dislocated Shoulder

So 2 weeks ago I dislocated by left shoulder doing an incline dumbell press. I've not done any upper body work since, and have done some cardio and then my leg workout. I have been waiting for my Physical Therapy appointment before doing any upper body work, but I don't think I can wait any longer till next Friday without working out. Essentially, I'm looking for suggestions for upper body exercises that I can do until then (obviously without jeopardizing my shoulder) so that I can keep somewhat in shape. Thanks in advance.

I'm no expert, but I am a multiple-shoulder-dislocator and I suggest you do nothing until you're cleared by somebody that knows what they're doing. Basically I went back to stuff asap despite warnings from the doctor and that probably led to the many dislocations I suffered later.

How much weight were you using?

I think it's important to use dumbbell presses as an assistance exercise and not to take the intensity to high.

You need to be evaluated in person ... really ... were you expecting a different answer?! Be patient. One more week layoff is not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but a troublesome shoulder will give you a lifetime of pain and dysfunction (just ask JP).

ryan, My inclines to that point had been 4 sets of 8 with 45lbs in each hand, and then I did 8 reps at 50lbs in each hand, and suffered the injury on the 9th rep. Uconn, I guess it's true I'll just have to wait, as bad as that sounds to me now.

I agree with dmw, I've had two shoulder surgeries and have had well over 15 dislocations before (football ftw).

Have it looked at professionally for sure before you do anything that will stress the shoulder in any way.

If you do continue to lift in the interim, avoid any lifts of movements that stress the shoulder joint, e.g. incline lifts, flyes, lateral raises).
