Default Burning sensation around my elbow ???

Hello everyone, I hope you are all doing good and enjoying your holliday season
Well as the title says, recently I have been experiencing pain around the outside of my elbow. This usually happens when I start doing exercises like pushups or pull ups, basically if Im flexing my arm it hurts, I stop and the pain receedes, but after awhile I will have this warm or sometimes hot sensation in the area, sometimes its around the elbow, sometimes its just underneath my biceps or in the triceps area
Im really getting frustrated about it, what ever it is. Im not lifting at the moment, or putting any undo strain on my arm, and icing at night. Its been like this for about 3 weeks now, and I can't get in to see a doc until almost the end of Jan. gotta love health care in this town.

In the mean time, can anybody take an educated guess as to what the problem could be, I am thinking tendonitis, but I am just not sure

Any and all comments are greatly appreciated. Happy Hollidays

I'm not sure I'm understanding exactly where your pain is ... can you please post a photo with an arrow or something?

No access to photo but I will try to describe it better. If you bend your arm so that your hand touches your shoulder, then the pain/burn sensation can be felt along the triceps, also in this position, on the tissue in between the bones of the elbow, as well as on the outside area of the elbow, I hope this makes better sense

Lateral elbow pain commonly points to tennis elbow or some kind of -itis in your extensor tendons as this is where they all originate. Does any wrist motions provoke the pain, ie. wrist flexion/extension? It also could be a bursitis as you have several bursa that lube the elbow during movements. It could be an inflammation of one of them... Try some anti-inflammatories and keep applying the ice.

Good one John!

Well, since terms like "outside" and "underneath" don't really accurately describe where your pain is, I'll ask you to look at this diagram and describe your pain using these terms relative to anatomical position ... sorry to be a pain about this, but there are many things which could cause elbow pain and I want to give you as accurate of an answer as possible.

Well I found a great picture for you Julie
If you look at the sticky post here called "essential information for injury reorting" there's a picture of someone pointing right at his own elbow

Now my pain is about an inch down of where his finger is pointing. When you hold your arm like that, you can see the bone at the bottom, and before that, you can feel a soft spot before another smaller bone, the pain/burning sensation is mostly concentrated in that area. I wish I new the name of that spot, it would make it all easier.

Hope it helped some. I am also trying to find more information on something called ART. Anyone here ever hear about it ???

Thanx everyone for your patience
Merry X-mas

I saw that and was going to comment on it...but it was Christmas.

If you eat hot foods a lot take a small cup of water, mix some sugar into it then drink it after you finish your hot meal. It will kill the burn, both incoming and outgoing.

I felt tension in my tricep up to my elbow on my left arm before. The foam roller got rid of it though. When I did have the tension, it did not affect me from lifting or catching the softball. I throw right handed and catch the ball with my left hand. I also never had any problems with my throwing arm. I also foam roll the triceps quite a bit to make sure a knott does not start to build up and if it does, the foam roller gets rid of it. I never started foam rolling until I felt something building up in my left. It took me a few foam rolling days and times to get rid of the tension by the way. It really does hurt when its your first time rolling a spot (never roll on joints or your elbow). When I rolled for my first time on my left tricep, it was tight and I felt tension for a while even if I wasn't rolling. Then it went away. The same is happening with my right hip (TFL and glute medius) now. I am working on rolling the heck out of it now.

If you do not own a foam roller, you could use just about anything. A softball, tennis ball, or even a bat (the thick side).
