Default Pain in "ball" of left foot

1. When did the pain begin?
~ August 15th, 2007
2. What were you doing at the time? Or did the pain come on gradually over time?
Playing frisbee on wet-pack sand. I think I stubbed my big toe straight down into the packed, wet sand while running.
3. Where, anatomically, is the pain?
The inside/underneat of the "ball" joint in left foot. Not where the arrow is pointing in the pic below.

4. What does the pain feel like? Sharp? Dull? Aching? Stabbing? Shooting?
Intense & concentrated in the "ball". Dull & aching.
5. Is the pain constant, or intermittent, or only on certain motions?
Only after working out or playing a sport. It does not hurt during either, only afterwards for a few hours.
6. What motions make your pain worse?
It's just a dull pain that's there regardless of moving or not moving howver, bending all toes 90 degrees from foot (like the back leg in a lunge) when barefoot hurts but if wearing sneakers, it does not hurt.
7. What, if anything, makes your pain better?
Not working out, playing sports, or my answer to #6.
8. Does your pain radiate to any other part of your body?
No
9. What things could you do before, that you cannot do now because of your injury?
It doesn't stop me from doing anything. It just seems to be a niggling little "injury" that won't go away.
10. What is your main concern regarding the pain and its consequences?
That 'pushing through' discomfort will ultimately have me worse off in the long run. If it's a stress fracture, then I take time off and heal but unsure.
11. Have you ever injured that part of your body before? If so, how?
No, never.
12. Is your pain getting worse over time? And if so, how much worse over what time period?
Not worse...it just comes and goes. I haven't had any discomfort for 2-3 weeks and as soon as I started NROL/Fat Loss II 2 weeks ago, it would hurt for a few hours after a workout session. Playing non-contact pick-up football will also cause this 'discomfort hangover'.

When you say you "stubbed" you toe, do you mean that it bent underneath your foot, or just got jammed (ie pushed in toward your foot along the length of the toe)?

In, towards my foot along the length of my toe.

Does it hurt if you move the toe passively into dorsiflexion and plantarflexion? (i.e. unweighted, using your hand to move the toe up and down) How about if you actively move it but unweighted?

Is there any swelling or bruising?

(can't see your picture in your first post by the way)
