Default HOWS IT"S MY FREAKING LEFT SHOULDER

I'm so frustrated !!! I hurt my right shoulder back in Oct 06 and spent a good 6 months trying to get it right. Thought I was doing everything right, I bought the Inside Out & MM DVD and was doing that before workouts. Wasn't doing any pressing at all and was doing WTY &L's lower trap raises and scap push-ups and varies external rotation exercises and thiought I was fine. Then this past Fri. I hurt the left shoulder.

I was doing decline presses and felt a little pain in front delt but felt more like muscle soreness so I continued and finshed my sets. I did also feel in previous workouts a little tightness / clicking in the sub scap area but I was foam rolling it and didn't think much of it. I then went to do incline bench and I couldn't even stabilize a light 12 rep weight ! It felt like the left shoulder was going to pop out of socket !!!

Sat. the ROM motion was very limited couldn't elevate arm to soulder level had pain in AC joint area and rear of shoulder and the sub scap wa sore and felt knotted up.. I could close my car door with that arm had to reach across with right hand...

ROM has inproved since Fri I can get hand above shoulder but still experience pain in AC joint area - also when I internaly rotate I get pain in front delt.. When I flex Bi I get pain where delt conects to upper arm or I guess could be one of the Bi insertion areas ...

I'm so bummed I was hoping to start a bulking cycle and this just screws everything !!! I purchased a Salter 1450 nutritional scale (which is great product) and I was really ready to make to be more dedicated to the training lifestyle.. AND THEN THIS !!!

Refresh my memory ... did you ever have any imaging done of your right shoulder? (x-ray, MRI, etc)

Yes the MRI said there was a questionable laberal tear but when I went to the Ortho he didn't feel the same and didn't feel surgery was nec. so I did PT for about 8 weeks and it seems ok now.. The symtons I have now about the same but I think the ROM was more limited on the recent injury ..

Initially if it is acute/inflammed, rest/ice/compression can help as can pendulum exercises. If it seems similar to the other shoulder, you might do well to do what the therapist did with the other one, similar exercises etc.

FWIW I cannot do any pressing exercises with BB or DB where my scapula is more fixed (ie in any bench type position). I do fine with push presses or jerks or snatches, and fine with pushups, but the minute I lie on my back and do pressing movements, my shoulders start hurting again. I have learned to really focus on scapular stability and now my shoulders feel healthier than they ever have (and I've had surgery).

Thanks for the response Julie.. I went to a ortho yesterday and he wants a MRI so I should have additional info shortly.. I was actually doing the rehab type exercises for both sides and all the other stuff that was recommended, That whats frustrates me so much !!! I may need a rethink what I can and can't do as far as exercises, just like you are doing.. I would like to hear from JP as to how he works arround his situation whit his shoulder history ..
