Default Pain below knee cap (at top of tibia?)

1. When did the pain begin?
Th pain began Tuesday night, after returning to olympic lifting from a three week layoff. (Possibly, Ive had it for many years - explained below)

2. What were you doing at the time? Or did the pain come on gradually over time?
It was the night after my first olympic lifting workout in three weeks.

3. Where, anatomically, is the pain?
The pain is in my right knee below the knee cap - it feels like the very top of my shin bone. Same place where Osgood-Schlatter would be?
NOTE: About 7-9 years ago when i was 11-13, dont remember exactly, I believe I had pain in this same exact area. I went to a doctor who told me it was not Osgood-Schlatters (there was no bump then and I cant detect any noticeble bump now), but something else to do with growing. The pain has since went away and has not bothered me even with frequent jumping, sprinting, and olympic lifting.

4. What does the pain feel like? Sharp? Dull? Aching? Stabbing? Shooting?
The pain feels very dull to non existant when It bothered my alot after my first two gym sessions.

5. Is the pain constant, or intermittent, or only on certain motions?

6. What motions make your pain worse? Flexing 90 degrees and putting pressure, as in when I take a step with the injured leg up a stair.

7. What, if anything, makes your pain better? Doing nothing seems to make it better.

8. Does your pain radiate to any other part of your body? Feels like it radiates down my shin.

9. What things could you do before, that you cannot do now because of your injury? I can train through it, its just painful.

10. What is your main concern regarding the pain and its consequences?
That if I do not adress the pain it will get worse.

11. Have you ever injured that part of your body before? If so, how?
Refer to No. 3

12. Is your pain getting worse over time? And if so, how much worse over what time period? Well I have only excercised twice, the first time it hurt and i thought it just might be my body not being used to it and the time off (which it still might be). But after the second workout (only a day later) it is definitely worse.

Thanks in advance!

Update: Woke up this morning hoping it went away, but now even walking causes the sharp pain - although it doesnt seem to radiate as much.

Amazing, this is the same problem I have.....exactly. I posted a few weeks ago but didn't get much information.

I'm also noticing that my pain will change day to day. One day (like today) it's gone, but the next it might hit me again when I go to climb stairs.

I also remember my doctor telling me years ago that it had something to do with growing and my growth plates. Can't quite remember.....

If the symptoms are similar to Osgood-Schlatters it could be Sinding Larsen Johansson, which is basically the same issue but affecting the proximal attachment of the patellar tendon. Not sure on the pain radiating down the leg though.
