Default Dislocated shoulder?

1. Yesterday
2. I was playing rugby, I fell on my shoulder and felt a pop, then someone fell on me. When the person got up I rolled around in pain for a couple minutes then just sat out the rest of practice.
3. The pain is mostly between the shoulder muscles and the tricep/bicep area (i.e. just below the shoulder muscles).
4. Cant really explain what type of pain... just hurts, lol.
5. Just when I move it.
6. Any movement where I raise my upper arm above chest level.
7. Icing it dulls the pain, and I have also been taking ibuprofen to keep any swelling down, which has seemed to help, because since I have done so the pain also goes away slightly.
8. no.
9. Anything with my left arm, lol.
10. My main concern is getting back to the weights and back to rugby. I do not care about the pain, I just want to get the shoulder healthy.
11. no.
12. Worse today than yesterday.

I am basically wondering if I should go for an x-ray (I will go later if I get a chance) and what I can do to heal it. As I said before, I will go through the pain as long as I get the shoulder healthy.

Thanks

here is the "key" for the a's above

1. When did the pain begin?
2. What were you doing at the time? Or did the pain come on gradually over time?
3. Where, anatomically, is the pain?
4. What does the pain feel like? Sharp? Dull? Aching? Stabbing? Shooting?
5. Is the pain constant, or intermittent, or only on certain motions?
6. What motions make your pain worse?
7. What, if anything, makes your pain better?
8. Does your pain radiate to any other part of your body?
9. What things could you do before, that you cannot do now because of your injury?
10. What is your main concern regarding the pain and its consequences?
11. Have you ever injured that part of your body before? If so, how?
12. Is your pain getting worse over time? And if so, how much worse over what time period?

You may have separated you AC joint. Go to a doctor--though they may or may not do anything about it. Not something you can just grin your way through though.

i think you should see your dr.. would most probably have to go for an x-ray before anything, just like bryanc said, it might be a dislocation of the AC joint..

Default dislocated shoulder

you may have dislocated the shoulder, and subsequently it is back in place. the pain you feel may be associated with a humural tendon tear, however slight the tear, the pain radiates to the bicep/tricep. it will heal over time, but it needs lots of rest. rest assured it can be fixed via surgery. good luck, and remember, it wont heal if you keep using it.
