Default Groin pain with piriformis tightness?

Hey all,

My brother is suffering from some severe groin pain, it affects his walking, sitting and standing. Anytime he does any sort of squatting motion, it bothers him. Lunges do not. I've tested him on a few things but nothing is jumping out at me, he does however have a tight piriformis on the same side as his groin pain. I'm guessing there may be a connection here...possibly due to similar insertion points? He also suffers from patellar tendonitis in both knees. Any help would be much appreciated.

Posterior hip joint stiffness, whether it be capsular or muscular, and poor glute function will cause the femoral head to glide forward causing a pinching of the capsule in the joint as it flexes. It also can result in bursitis/tendonitis/tendonosis anteriorly which results in persistant pain in a variety of postures. It's referred to either anterior hip impingement or anterior femoral glide syndrome depending on the source you read.

Do a search and there should be a "fix" somewhere on the net. it's basically a matter of improving posterior glide of the femoral head. Stretching the hip flexor is a no-no as it will just perpetuate the problem.

Thanks a lot Bill! Really wish I could have made it to the Summit to meet you, you're a huge inspiration. Hopefully next year. Funny actually because I just "diagnosed" my brothers girlfriend with anterior femoral glide syndrome with medial rotation with a little help from Shirley Sahrmann and "Diagnosis and Treatment..."
