Default Pain in outside of shin

Hey guys. I have been having a pretty severe pain for a few days. It feels kinda like a shin splint, but it is a little bit further back, pretty much right in the middle on the ouside of my shin...about two inches down from my knee joint. If I push on a certain spot, right on the bone, it hurts like heck!!! I was feeling better last night, and against my better judgment I did squats this morning and it seems to have irritated it again. Someone mentioned that this could be a Homans sign of DVT or blod clot, but they my sister who is an ER RN said that I wouldnt really feel localized pain like that and she said a homans sign causes pretty severe pain when you pull back on your toes toward your body...and the pain I would feel is behind the knee, not on the side of my shin. Any ideas???

Try searching web MD for compartment syndrone, and see if that matches your situation. If that is it call your doctor quick because I'm pretty sure they have to decompress it. I could be off, but it's a good start.

If you had a compartment syndrome for a few days that required urgent decompression, someone would probably be amputating your dead leg by now.

You need to give us more information, because right now, there's about 6 things on the differential that could be causing this pain (compartment is on that list, but kinda low from the very little that you've told us)

Check out the sticky in this forum. A snapshot of your leg and where it hurts would be useful too.
