Default Kinetic chain approach to shoulder rehab?

http://www.pubmedcentral.nih.gov/art...?artid=1323395

I went to a a PT this summer for my shoulder. Their was little to no isolated exercises and very little static stretching, I really enjoy the 30 minute PT programs but I want to know if it is enough for rehabbing a shoulder impingement?.... The PT consisted of many movements like the shoulder dump (see above) and a lot of hip activation movements. The program consisted of a warmup with dynamic stretches (lunge variations : front, side, reverse), single leg squat touchdowns, jumping jacks or 3 dimensional jumps, shoulder activation exercises (shoulder dump, internal/external rotator cuff movements with movement in the hips, punches thrown at different levels with some hip movement, similar exercises to the above link), this was followed by a strengthing circuit section with 3 minute treadmill intervals between strength circuits. Some common exercises in the strength section were: DB Squats, step ups, DB lunges, cable/theraband push-pulls with rotation, DB rows, pushup holds variations, wood chops)...There is no exercises like pushup pluses, face pulls, Y's, T's, etc. that we see in many rehab programs....I enjoyed this program, but I don't know if I need to include traditional exercises like Y's T's to get better. The PR actually advises against these type exercises I think becauuse it isn't using more of the kinetic chain. Any opinions?

Why do you think Inside-Out was designed as it was?

You have to address the relationships between the shoulder and the rest of the body.

However, you also need to address isolated weaknesses and movement restrictions. If you don't the body will attempt to compensate "around" the dysfunction or substitute for weakness.

Isolate to activate (as needed) then integrate.

Thanks BIll, you answered my question! - I think I am taking the right approach with the use of I/O and face pulls, pushup pluses on an incline, and DB lateral raise/shrugs, and extra Y's and T's....I can focus on DB Deadlifts, Squats, Lunges and Step ups for my weightlifting for now.
