Default tensor vs knee wraps

Could you use a tensor bandage in place of knee sleeves when lifting?

I think that depends largely on what you're using them for.

http://www.t-nation.com/findArticle....6-101-training

just to keep my knees good for the long haul, my plan is to get my squats back up to a respectable level again. I don't want to have problems in the future.

Not sure of your exact question but you can go to any local sporting goods store and pick up a cheap pair of knee sleeves for not too much money. Probably easier in the long haul, plus you can wash them. I have used both cheap sleeves and really nice ones like the rehbands and while there is a difference, not enough of one for me to recomend the rehbands to the average person.

Um.

Let me get this straight. You're going to go and buy neoprene knee sleeves because you read this very small paragraph on T-nation?

"I'll make this first one easy on you. Go out, buy some knee sleeves, and wear them every time you train your legs. This could be quad-dominant day, hip-dominant day, "leg" day, or whatever you want to call it. Just put them on before the workout, warm-up thoroughly, and bask in the joy that healthy knees bring to you."

I don't even know where to start...

Not so. I have been told to wrap in the past, and from a lot of reading that supports it. I just wanted to know if tensors would be similar to a sleeve so that I wouldn't have to spend any money. My knees are good now and I wnat to keep them that way. I should have been more specific I guess.

Actually, she got some advice from some people, then found the advice supported in an article by a well-respected trainer. So she came to ask if what she had was usable in place of the neoprene. Pretty simple. No need to try and knock her intelligence.

Sorry if that was a bit blunt.

However, when I asked why you were using, or considering the use of neoprene sleeves, you pointed me in the direction of a carte-blanche recommendation that had absolutely no reasoning attached to it other than to say, "Trust me. I said so." Even it does come from a well-respected trainer, you must have some idea of why you're considering their use other than, "I've read it's good for my knees."

I understand that, however I don't feel I should have to validate to someone I don't know my reasons for using them. It was a quick answer. My ART guy has told me to wrap up and so has my previous trainer. All I asked was if a tensor would be the same so that I could save some money. I have 10 tensors in my kit for when I work sport events and was hoping I could use those. Up to this point I have not used belts or wraps of any kind and am just starting to add a couple things in as advised. I do not know much about them so I thought I would ask. Danny gave me an answer so I'm good to go now. IMO there is a difference between being blunt and trying to understand what someone is saying thru questioning. My reference to the article was to point out knee health, nothing wrong with that, rather than go into a lengthy discuss like this. All I wanted was a yes or no Sorry for the whole mess here.

Thanks again for your quick answer Danny.

Bryan, don't knock it until you tried it. I've used the sleeves since reading that article and I wouldn't do a leg workout without them.

Sorry for the broad statement, but remember it's an article on a larger topic, not a review article on the efficacy of knee sleeves.

Regardless, it's a simple thing that people can do to improve the quality of their leg-training workouts.

Best

No need to apologize Mike. I found the article very helpful and it reaffirmed for me what my ART guy and trainer have been telling me about my individual case. I used the sleeves today and squatting felt great. So thanks for the helpful tips.
