Default Elbow Pain Solution?

I have been dealing with pain in my right elbow for almost 6 weeks. I believe it is tennis elbow (inflamation of the tendon). Does anyone know a good way to prevent this as well as what to do about it? I have been avoiding lateral raises and curls since this seems to irritate it most.

I really need to get back into those exercises though.. any advice would be appreciated.

If you search "elbow pain" you'll find more info than you can read.

Use the search function for "elbow pain". There's a boatload of threads in this section about it.

Tennis elbow will be largely reactive to grip flexor movements, to include holding a pen or pencil.

My physiotherapist told me to:

Stretch and massage for 30mins
Ice for 15mins (no longer or the body thinks that area is going into hypothermia and starts to rush fluids to it).

The stretches she gave me were:

Arm extended out, flex the hand up and down (don't whip it up and down, jsut flex it).
Put your hand to your face, fingers pointed down.

Use light grip where you can.
Put a spongy wrap on your pens and pencils.
For ice, fill some dixie cups 1/2-3/4 with water, so you can peel them down.

I'd avoid lifting for a bit.

My case was extreme. I let it go and plowed through it until my hand would go numb. It took about six months to get back to normal.

Wow,

Thanks for the very descriptive tips. I will definitely give them a try and let you know how it worked. At one point it was even hurting just to grip someones hand for a hand shake.

I was not sure if hot or cold was the way to go.

Thanks Again!! And Take Care
