Default Shoulder posture

Sorry this is a double post from training... When I conciously maintain correct posture (hold my shoulders back), my upper back muscles hurt. I think the majority of the soreness is in my traps, although it might be a little in the lats or rear delts. The pain is more of a tightness or soreness, not like a sharp pain. Any idea what this is or how I can correct it? (besides just always having good posture-I'm trying that!) Thanks!

Could be that you're just working too hard at it.

Postural correction exercise:

Sit (or stand) as tall as possible (this does not mean hyperextend your back. think of a string pulling the top of your head upward)

Turn your palms to the front (this will rotate the shoulders to a more neutral position)

Maintain the spine and shoulder girdle posture and relax your hands. Go about your business.

Repeat every 15 minutes

Listen to Fitcast 23 and check out the Inside-Out manual if you can. We address it there too.
