Default 1st Time Shoulder Issue

Well I think my right shoulder is screwed!!!

I was having some slight pain in the back of my shoulder and thought it was just from a knot in my trap area that I have been trying to massage out... So last night being leg night I thought there would be no problem but after working out and on the ride home I felt some popping and chatching in the front top of the shoulder but not real bad pain.. Today the pain is worse but still not unbearable.. To me it's more of a problem with restricted movement and tightness, it feels like it's catching on something and at times I do get shooting pain. NOW WHAT ????

Please read the sticky and answer any of the questions that you can. We need more info.

Bill, Colts fan (how many times do I have to tell Ron Harper to cut to the right!)

Nick Harper.*

Ron played point for the Bulls during Jordan's last championships.

That explains why he cut right into Rothlesberger (sp). I was yelling Ron and he didn't think I was talking to him.

Sorry Bill will try to include more info...

. When did the pain begin? About 3 weeks ago but was more like a soreness then
2. What were you doing at the time? Or did the pain come on gradually over time? 1ST noticed a slight pain while benching with wide grip.
3. Where, anatomically, is the pain? 1st noticed in rear of shoulder and thought was from a knot in the trap area. But after trying to make sure I used a narrow grip on the bar while squating (last eve.) the shoulder began to pop/grind and then it felt like it was catching or locking up some but wasn't much pain. Now today it still tight and popping some but the pain is more noticable but still not real bad except for time where I get a shooting pain due to some movement of the shoulder.
4. What does the pain feel like? Sharp? Dull? Aching? Stabbing? Shooting? More of a dull pain with some shooting pain . It's more tightness and the pain is worst when it pops
5. Is the pain constant, or intermittent, or only on certain motions? Intermittent and during certain movements
6. What motions make your pain worse?reaching overhead, across body, pushing movements
7. What, if anything, makes your pain better? inactivity
8. Does your pain radiate to any other part of your body? not really
9. What things could you do before, that you cannot do now because of your injury? I still doing daily functions it's just uncomfrtable sometimes- but I coudn't even think about training now
10. What is your main concern regarding the pain and its consequences? Afraid it may be a rotator cuff
11. Have you ever injured that part of your body before? If so, how? No
12. Is your pain getting worse over time? And if so, how much worse over what time period? yes - the shooting pains are much worse and the tightness is constant and I can feel ocassional popping/catching

Are you having pain at rest with your arm at your side?

If so, treat the acute symptoms with Aleve and ice.

Popping with pain could be coincidental due to inflammation, but you're also getting impingement based on your painful movements.

Sounds like you're shoulder is rather unstable. If you treat the acute symptoms and don't get a significant change, get it looked at. If it does calm down, recheck your movement (except pushing) and then post any changes.

Thanks Bill

Being a Steeler Fan I thought you may advice me to cut it off and call you in the morning!

If the shoulder calms down should I look into a shoulder specific routine like EC'c Shoulder Savers or AC's 1st 4 wks of 8 weeks to massive shoulders. If are familuar with those..
