Unhappy abdominal surgey/osteoporosis

I have had had some extensive surgery to my abdominal wall and surrounding
area , I would like some help with strenghtening that area, also I have
osteoporosis in my knees and i'm a frequent hiker, and I would also
like to strenghthen my knees.

Default I feel your pain!

Just had a hernia fixed myself. (Just above my belly button)

I spoke to my doctor about this. His basic reply was...listen to your body regarding the activity level. I took him to include my choices of exercise. If it hurts...don't do it.

Be very careful and do what you can do. That's pretty much all I got out of him so I'm interested to see what responses you'll get here.

Hang in there. I hope your mental state is good. It's hard not to let this stuff really drag you down emotionally. I'm pretty depressed.

That's why I felt like I should respond here. At least to encourage you to hang in there. I have some idea how you feel.

I think a little more information that 'extensive abdominal surgery' would go a long way to making recommendations on activity. What you're describing could be one of many different procedures.
