Default Best Online Sources for Foam Rollers?

I want to buy a foam roller and can't find any locally. Does anyone know of good online sources?? Also, my primary problem is my hamstrings. Is there a particular type that I need for those muscles?? Thanks!

Hamstrings are really tough to get very well with most foam rollers -- they simply don't provide enough pressure to get the benefit.

This may sound sadistic, but have you ever tried a PVC pipe? A softball? If your hamstrings are truly the problem then these can work great.

However, your hamstrings could simply be a referred issue from somewhere else, and if so, a normal foam roller could be the trick as you use it more extensively.

To answer your question, here's our source where we got a black foam roll, which is a compromise between regular foam and PVC.

You can try Perform Better for foam rollers. Hamstrings are always tough to foam roll. Because they are so tight, they tense up to the touch...especially of a foam roller with your bodyweight on!

Thanks for the fast responses. I have never foam rolled anything, except walls with paint. If it's not really my hammies that are the problem, what should I suspect??

I have noticed ongoing tightness/soreness near the junction of my hamstrings and glutes, especially on one side, since around March when I was intensely training for a marathon - the most running I have ever done as far as weekly mileage and intensity. Ever since then, I've had this chronic problem that never goes away. I think it has affected my race performances since March, as I really took a downturn. So I've just assumed it's the hamstrings that need the attention.

I have had a different experience both personally and with my athletes/clients with foam rolling and hammys. The foam rolling really hit them nice. Cross one leg over the other to apply more pressure. It always was plenty for me.

Everyone is different however.

You can also try "The Stick". Works well in those places too

I love my foam roller and it's certainly plenty for my hammies! I do like Keith said and put one leg over the other for more pressure when it's needed.

It may or may not be worth it at $35, but Perform Better has a PVC tube wrapped in foam, for 5x longer life and added resistance.
