Default Bill: Help with my printer

Bill,

Each time I print, the sheet pulls to the right and gets all crumpled up and jammed. I figured the left side was weak, so I checked out the inside, and sure enough, there's only one roller, and it's on the right side. Anything I can do to correct this imbalance other than guiding each sheet as it prints? Or am I doomed for a total replacement?

I think I'm officially tainted when I think of my printer imbalances this way. :p

I have a similar problem with my desk chair! One of the wheel sticks, so during push/pull variations I have trouble staying in a constant plane of motion. Help me too.

Cap. get's my vote for post of the day!

She gets my vote too! Not sure how we'd ever come up with single-sided exercises for a printer though!

Cappy:

What kind of printer? What make/model? They usually have rollers on both sides if not on both sides and in the middle.

You can email me at rick.miale at nc.gov if it's easier for you.

Feed multiple sheets of paper through the weaker side of the roller...that'll improve the imbalance and make the weaker side stronger...or worse...maybe you should wait on Bill. Dr. Imbalance.

Cast, It's a Lexmark X75. Maybe when I open the cover the other rollers move so I can't see them?

I guess I could look for the owner's manual on-line too.

thanks, doc!

This may be a classical male approach but....have you whacked it yet?? Oh I just had a thought, this may be how my shoulder and back became worse!

Speaking of typical guy approach to tech issues: I used to have a computer several years ago that seriously would not turn on until I smacked the hell out of it. Other people witnessed this behavior, and I just think it's really funny that smacking it actually worked.

You need to clean the rollers. There's ink/toner buildup to one side causing a sticking point.

You could have replaced the switch.

Yes, but it was too cool to do so; I think at the time I didn't really mess around with the internal workings of computers as much as I do now, so it worked out. IIRC, it was a 700MHz AMD, so not exactly recent.
