Default Plica

I have been nursing a knee injury for a year (previously diagnosed as Chondromalacia). More recently I found a doctor who has actually listened to me (I have very little pain, lots of stiffness) Anyway after a million tests we discovered inflamed plica.

I'm not sure if you are familiar with plica, but basically in some people (me) they have some remnant tissue that normally becomes part of the joint capsule. The symptoms are similar to meniscus tear, and chondromalacia hence the misdiagnosis.

Anyway thinking back on my life it really clears up a bunch of stuff. Like I have always been able to pop my knee and it seemed to "catch" periodically. That would be the tissue causing the catch.

So here's my questions

1. Are you familiar with Plica syndrome?
2. If so Any suggestions?

Thank you for any guidance

If you can control the inflammation, then all well. Occasionally, a cortisone injection will be needed, but that's a band-aid in general in the worst situations. If symptoms are not controllable with change of activity and inflammation control measures, they'll often times just excise the plica via scope.
