Default Injury or DOMS ?

I can really feel my lower back muscles aching these days .. and I can't figure out if it's just DOMS or if I'm hurting myself. I started doing Deadlifts, SLDLs and Squats lately. I think my form is correct but my upper body is definatly weaker than my legs so my lower back is working alot.

DOMS anywhere else I can recognize.. but I don't know about my lower back.

please help!

thanks!

Mary does it hurt to touch your back? Is it your spine or the muscles around it? Is it a burning pain or just soreness? If it is burning pain the most likly it is an injury otherwise it is just sore. You might want to try alternating between hot and cold packs to see if that helps. Good luck.

You need someone with good eyes to take a look at you. Most folks do not have a good trunk stabilization strategy when it comes to loading the spine during squats, deads, etc. Most overrecruit the spinal erectors and under recruit the abs.

Hold a 10 pound plate at arms length at shoulder level and then squat with feet slightly wider than you hips and toes straight ahead. That would approximate how you should be aligned.

Follow the example that I mentioned previously and match the body position. If you do it correctly, you'll use a load that allows you to maintain the same technique. If technique changes, the load is too heavy.
