Default Chest/back injury

Is it normal for oppossing body parts to affect one another.

I was pulling up with great force on a tool. Felt something pop in my chest. I can touch the pain in my pectoral right where it connects to the breast plate, just below the clavical.

BUT it is nothing like the pain that I now have in my back. Almost exactly opposite the chest injury I have a deep pain. Caughing or sneezing are extremely painful. No core training as this causing great pain as well. The back started hurting a few hours after I felt the chest pop.

So, I know I injured my chest. But why would the back be in such disarray? Is this farily common?

Thanks

Ryan
