Default Coffee protein shake?

Anyone got a recipe for this? I searched but not sure I found what I was looking for...

I have some instant coffee, was thinking I could just put a scoop into my vanilla prot. powder shake and make it into an iced vanilla latte shake? Has anyone tried this (or a simple variation)? Advice?

Instant coffee is a just add water thing right? If it is, it seems like it would work. So would brewing some coffee and adding your protein powder. Amounts of each is probably something you'll have to play around with.

For more ideas go hang out at starbucks for 15 minutes and watch what they make. Then, replace any of those syrups with a similarly flavored protein powder. Again, play with the amounts some and you should end up something tasting pretty good if you like coffee.

We use Medaglia D'Oro instant espresso in our shakes & it works really well. It's also pretty easy to find.

that's what I use - vanilla protein powder + instant espresso.
Or same with the addition of cocoa for an extra treat.

You can use brewed coffee, too, but let it cool first. Adding protein powder to hot coffee will make it clump. Mocha shakes are good, but only when they're smooth.

Alright so... not a great first experiment... Melted coffee in hot water, added to vanilla shake (with skim milk and ice). Bleh. Edible, but not good... and made WAY too much trying to balance the texture and taste, so now I'm forcing it down to make sure I get the protein in.

Next time, I'm going to try orange gatorade with my 'nilla protein - 1 scoop???

Yep, I used to make protein lattes in the morning... You have to let it cool off just a bit before you add the p.powder-- making a milky latte is good here since the milk will cool off the coffee. I usually would nuke 1/2 a cup of water, add the instant coffee and stir, add 1/2 cup shaken skim or soy milk (so it's a bit frothy), and then stir in vanilla or chocolate p.powder. Yumm!

I stopped for awhile but now I think I may do this again tomorrow, especially since now I've got true protein flavor additive separate from my plain whey... One problem I always had was I found the flavored p.powder a bit too sweet for me, but now I can tweak to my tastes.

CeeBee, thanks for the recipe, we all love that taste of coffee with chocolate, it's known to already be a great taste. (PotOGold chocolates, Coffee crisp bar, etc).

Thanks, definitely going to try this out.

I just made the iced protein coffee on pg. 78 of NROL4W. Definitely having THAT more often! Yum.

1/2-cup cold coffee (I bumped it up to 3/4-cup for added flavor; brewed and popped in freezer for 1/2 hour)
1/2-cup 1% milk
1 scoop vanilla whey-protein powder (I used Nu-Tek Pro5 Hers)
Ice cubes (10 made it huge!)

Blend and enjoy!

You could plug in the individual items into FitDay - Free Weight Loss and Diet Journal and see what comes up.
