Default Cabbage & turmeric - 2 things you want more of

Made this up a few nights ago -- easy and delicious (at least to me). I ate it with ww pita and Greek yogurt. Read on msnbc.com a few days ago that turmeric supposedly "aids muscle repair after heavy exercise." http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/20411249/

1/2 head cabbage, shredded
1 clove garlic, minced
2 T canola oil
2 T Asian chili sauce
2 T tomato paste
1 t turmeric
1 t garam masala (an Indian spice mixture -- I think you can buy it now at Whole Foods, or you could substitute equal parts ground cumin, ground coriander, ground ginger, and balck pepper)
1/2 t salt, or to taste

2 servings (or double it and make 4 -- was good leftover)

In a frying pan, wok, or whatever, heat the oil over medium heat and saute the garlic for a minute. Add the cabbage and let it cook for a minute, then add everything else, stir and cook for several minutes. I like my cabbage a little crunchy, so I didn't cook it too long, but you could cook it longer if you like yours cooked down.

That sounds good. I think I have all that stuff, too.

I use curry powder and tumeric in many of my mixed veggie sides. Looks like the garam masala would add a slightly different twist.
