Going to X-Men III
Kind of an undescript title, but I am going to the movie and I enjoy them much more when I am stuffing popcorn the entire time. I usually make it through 2 tubs, with tons of butter, and my wife only eating a little. I can do without the popcorn, but will enjoy the movie more if I can much on something throughout. Trail mix and nuts have too many clories to feed on for that long.
Anyone have any ideas for something that I can carry in and is VERY sparse in calories? Some kind of very low calorie protein bars?

Maybe low fat or fat free string cheese snacks? Can you live with taking a nibble once every 10-15 minutes?
I suppose carrots or celery would work, too, but that crunching will annoy the hell out of everyone sitting near you.

Man, have some restraint. Two tubs?
Why not workout first, then feed for the whole time. All sorts of crap and a protein shake to sip throughout.
I'm partial to red vines and a shake, myself.

A nibble every 15 minutes makes me laugh. Sipping also isn't a skill I possess But some fat free string cheese is a good idea. And maybe some steemed cauliflower, wonder if the smell would root me out? Probably take some snap pees too, but the more ideas the better. Thanks guys.

the cauliflower probably won't reveal your presence until near the end of the movie... maybe you should wait for the dvd!
maybe eat the trail mix one piece at a time? with chopsticks?

Man, how many Dr. Peppers does it take to down 2 tubs of popcorn?! :p
Craig, I'll never forget you guzzling 5 super size Dr. Peppers after Mt. Biking. I've never seen anyone drink that much soda.
But as for snacks a bag of nuts & fruit is good. Raisins. Sun flower seeds. I always bring a bottle of green tea or barley tea.
Never try smuggling a latte in your shirt though

Heh, I'd actually rather have popcorn as I watch "X2" on DVD at home than see X3, but that's just me.
I'm just not a Ratner fan and from what I understand, this is a "Singer-Lite" film. Heh, but definitely on with Red Vines. My personal favorite theater munchie; although theaters are now carrying that icky other brand instead now.
Red vines, Hot Tamales and Mike & Ikes. Yes, I AM a true blue sweet tooth.
Seriously, train before the movie and enjoy the munchies as you watch it.

Twizzlers suck! Red Vines and Hot Tamales the best. Why do Twizzlers even exist. They are the candy equivilent of Hydrox or Shasta soda.

Restraint still sounds like the best option. It's not like you go to the movies every night. Call it a cheat meal and workout before you go, than the carbs from the popcorn can be put to some good use. Skip the butter, the unbuttered popcorn has enough fat in it to clog at least one major atrery. Unfortunately I have no frame of reference on the red vine discussion because growing up in Wisconsin the theaters always had twizzlers. I was always a Milk Duds guy, good for eating as well as tossing.

Twizzlers just plain suck. The best Red Vines are a little stale, too. Good and chewy, taking a real good pull to bite off a chunk. They make good straws, too.
Red Vines + Diet Coke = Crazy Delicious

Eating snacks during a film is largely a North American phenomenon. In France, so I've heard, it is considered disrespectful to a film maker to eat during a movie. A film for the french is a piece of art and therefore should be respected as such.
Ever wonder why so many North Americans are over weight or obese?
Couldn't be the disgusting eating habits, could it?

I usually smuggle in my diet Barq's root beer, or a few Michelob Ultras.
2 tubs? Jee-zus! Especially with "butter". I put quotations around "butter" because it is not actually butter. It's butter flavored oil high in transfatty acids. Well, it's PURE transfatty acid.
My personal favorite unhealthy movie theater snack combo... Reeces Peanut Butter Cup with popcorn. I take a big bite and then stuff any room left in my mouth with popcorn and chew it all together. Mmmm. I also like Jollyrancher gummy squares (much softer and more tart than regular gummy bears).
I rarely buy anything at the actual theater though. With tickets at $9 each and a small round of snacks costing about $15-20, It's nearly $40 just to watch a freakin' movie. Wear a large jacket with deep inside pockets.

I'm with you, JP.
I wonder if they've done studies on the snack prices and sizes?
Personally, I'd be willing to buy them if they were reasonable and not so frikkin' huge!
Especially with the kids. While it certainly saves money to drive by the gas station and let them spend $2.00 on a couple small treats, I do it more for the size of the treats than the money. There's no way I'm going to let my kids have the size candy that those theatres have, much less at that price, too. At least with popcorn, there's 3-4 of us sharing it...

Movies? You guys never hear of bittorent?
I usually get popcorn and milkduds, they're a great combo. I buy the popcorn at the theatre since it's hard to sneak in. The milkduds are easy, I put the box in my pocket and cram a napkin under the top to keep them from rattling.
Went to see Cars yesterday. Qeued up to order my popcorn and a drink. "Large popcorn and a large cherry coke" I told the kid. He pulls out a cup that has to be 64 frigging ounces. Holy sh*t, I said (he wasn't amused). The small was pretty big and wasn't full of ice. My daughter and I finished it over the course of the movie.
Cars was amusing. Lots of rednecks in the audience...I think I was the only adult w/o a mullet.

Went to see RV today. Took the kids and my daughter's friend...
2 Icees, $6.90
1 Tub Popcorn, $4.50
1 Sour Skittles, $3.50
1 King Size Twix, $2.75
1 Large Diet Coke, $4.90
Plus tax, $24.30.
My daughter's little friend shouting "Mr. Denzel just paid $24.30 for crap?" Priceless.

I know this is bad and its pure sugar but its carbs only and low fat and relatively low calorie but marshmalows!
I buy a big bag of marshmallows and they are so filling and dy your mouth out that I end up not eating many
