I keep meaning to sit down and write a thorough review of this great cookbook, but I never get around to it. Meanwhile, summer's going to pass right by. The time for grilling is now!

Suffice it to say that this cookbook takes grilling, which is often a healthy way to cook anyway, to a level that all of us here at JPFitness.com should appreciate.

Bobby Flay concentrates on the healthiest of ingredients: olive oil, lean meats, whole grains, fish, fibrous veggies, etc. There's mention of Omega-3s, the healthfullness of sweet potatos, etc. We all know that these things taste good. It's about time that a mainstream chef put out a book that highlights them.

He also disdains artificial sweeteners for fruit, honey, and other, dubiously healthier sweeteners, but some people are into that. Even at that, most recipes have little in the way of added sweetness, relying mostly on the natural sweetness of the ingredients. Some of the recipes are high in carbs, but usually healthy ones.

These aren't necessarily low-carb, low-fat, or low-calorie recipes. But, they are chock full of healthy ingredients and can easily be manipulated to fit your kind of diet (a little less oil in the dressing, a smaller serving of potatos, etc.). Most recipes can be made to fit the P+F mold. Many are TAP worthy. Virtually all pass the "Clean Eating" test. Not too much in the way of P+C, but oh well.

There are only 75 recipes, but they are simple to make and pretty good.

One caution. Many of the recipes are very high calorie! Many are high fat. Some of the dishes are full meals, or close to it, while others need something on the side. Take a good look at the calories and macros of ALL the things in the meal before deciding what to grill. Even the healthiest foods shift into unhealthy terrain when you eat too much of them...

I hope you enjoy it!

Thanks!! I've gone a couple months now without a new cookbook. Time for a fix... Grilling isn't my area of expertise, so this might provide some good ideas.

Can you tell us if there are some good recipes in there that are keepers? I'm not asking you to transcribe the whole recipe, just titles to whet the appetite a bit...
