After listening to a Berardi MP3, where he suggested using iced green tea as a base for protein shakes, I figured I'd give it a shot. I only had chocolate powder... It was okay...
Got me to thinking about how to spice up a protein shake. Make it more of a real drink, rather than something to bolt down.
I tried some vanilla protein powder (mixed with water) with some Chai Tea concentrate. It was pretty good (assuming you like Chai).
I had never tried Chai before, since I never drink sugar sweetened and/or milk based drinks. But, with protein powder now a "staple" in my diet, I figured "what the heck."
I can keep this in my cooler and drink it WITH my lunch, rather than AS my lunch, which has never been satisfying.
It was good enough that I'm going to try to make my own Chai mixture from my own spices and some green tea. Then, I can just add my vanilla protein powder and be good to go.
So how much sugar is in the Chai? Would you use it for PWO, too? Is there sugar-free (Splenda?) Chai? Which MP3 does JB mention green tea as a base for a protein shake? What flavor would go with it? Who shot JR?
Not sure about the sugar... The one that I tried was from a little gift basket. It said sugar free/low carb. But, I only had the one packet.
I've seen all sorts of mixes available. Some are merely tea and spices, where you are supposed to add your own milk and/or sweetener. This is the type I'm going to look for. If I find a good one, I'll post it. I think I've seen artificially sweetened mixes, too.
