Hey guys, i'm a lurker here but i finally decided to register because i wanted to ask a question. Has anyone else made Johnka's protein pancakes that were in this new issue of Mens Fitness? I made them and they were MASSIVE! I couldn't even finish half of them! Is the recipe listed in the magazine two or even three servings?

I've had them, I think I could maybe put down a third of them. If it's the same recipe as in GN, it is for 2 servings.

Oh Yeah, that's good stuff! I put the unused cakes in a zip lock bag and freeze them. Pop them in the microwave and your good to go.

They were originally titled "Mancakes", thus the size
I'm glad they dropped the mancakes for the publication though, because it's a little on the silly side (OK, a lot).
They're similar to the ones in Gourmet Nutrition, but I don't remember them being that massive.
Here's the original recipe; maybe the ingredients got changed in MF?
Stir the following ingredients together in a large bowl:
1 cup whole wheat pancake mix (any variety will do, as long as it’s whole wheat)
2 heaping scoops of vanilla whey protein powder (ca. 45 grams protein)
3/4 cup skim milk
3 egg whites
2 tsp olive oil (or flax oil if you have it)
Cook the pancakes in a skillet, according to the regular directions, and serve with the following topping:
Combine 1.5 cups cottage cheese, 1/2 cup unsweetened frozen blueberries, and Splenda, to taste, and process in an electric blender until creamy.
Makes 2 small servings, or one large serving for those mass-oriented individuals.
Macronutrient profile, per serving:
K/cal: 300
Protein: 30 g
Carbs: 35 g (1 fiber)
Fat: 5 g (1.5s, 2.2m, 0.5p)

wouldn't it have more protein than the totals you listed? The protein powder alone is listed at 45g. Then the cottage cheese, eggs...

oh my God. I just made these into waffles and they are amazing. I followed his guidelines. Only changes I made were just 1 scoop of powder. They are really good! I had never thought to put protein powder in the pancakes, now everyone living with me is really going to think im crazy...thanks!

I could be mistaken, but I don't think the topping is included in the "Macronutrient profile, per serving" I use low carb grow chocolate instead, nothing like chocolate protein pancakes.

I was wanting something different for breakfast today and remembered reading this recipe when I first joined here. I made them in the belgian waffle maker and added a little vanilla extract to the mix. They turned out really good. Not only did my husband and son eat them too, but when I wasn't looking, my dog jumped up, finished off a whole one along with about 1/2 cup of the topping...oops...guess everyone in the family approved
