I am trying to improve my cooking skills as I am really getting tired of eating the plain dry chicken breasts, tuna from the can, natty p.b. from the spoon, raw veggies and fruits, and plain salmons all the time (you guys know what its like). I am a very boring chef. I'm wanting to start regularly eating beef as I eat chicken and fish way more and I want to equal it out. So I am going with flank, cheaper than the popular cuts of beef (FOR A REASON). I tried to cook this by itself, wow...I made eating into a workout trying to get that stuff chewed and down. Supposively marinating it will make it much softer and tender so that would be awesome. I am brand new to marinating anything, I do not know how exactly to do it but I can always look that up, I am looking for some bomb-arse recipes, anyone have any? Thanks guys.

Sounds great! I'll give them all a try! I like to stir fry with flank steak, but you do have to marinate it well.

I just made a flank steak in the slow cooker with tomatoes, carrots, celery, onion and garlic. Seasoned it with marjoram and basil and served it with brown rice....yum, yum, yum!!!!

I forgot, but under #2 add 1 Tsb of powderd mustard or 1 TBS of Dijon.

as far as being up bright and early, we're on an eight hour time difference so it's not quite so early and I have a GREAT deal of free time

I use this as the base for all marinates:

Lime juice (plus rind for an extra zing)
Oregano (or whatever herbs suit your meat/veggies)
Maple syrup (sugar free, preferably organic)
Chilli (seeds removed)- sliced
Garlic - crushed
Ginger - grated
Freshly ground pepper

Then I add extra stuff accordingly....
