So I was making my 6th or 7th batch of Johnka's pb banana bars. I had all the dry ingredients in a bowl when I realized I didn't have any bananas! So I was thinking what else goes good with pb...apples. So I substituted apples for bananas(it's tricky gettin apples to liquify in a blender) added some cinamman and followed the recipie otherwise. Turned out really good.

ya I do this aswell to cut back on the carb count. The trick is use applesauce and cut back on the amount. The recipe calls for approx 260 grams of banana but you only need 220 grams of applesauce. Also dried apple slices or raisens work well instead of banana chips.

Finally, I perfer the taste of using almond butter instead of pb but that may just be a personal preference thing.

I just used fresh apples but I was thinking about adding some rasins. Maybe next time. BTW, the cinamman really adds some good flavor.

Good idea guys. Apple puree/ applesauce is always a good subsitution for fat in any baking recipes.
