Those tuna shake recipies look foul. I can't imagine anyone ever eating (or drinking) a tuna shake. Has anyone tried one?

If you throw a can of tuna in a salad with a ton of veggies, you barely taste the tuna. I do this alot, partially becasue I'm lazy and also I love veggies.

If you look further down the page, they are not all shakes ... there are many recepies for non-shake tuna ideas.
Example ...
GRILLED TUNA OVER BLACK BEANS -
LACED WITH CHILE AND CUMIN WITH SPICY TOMATO CHUTNEY
Ingredients
For the black beans:
1 pound of black beans
1 large onion, chopped (about 1 cup)
2 tablespoons chile powder
2 tablespoons ground cumin
2 tablespoons kosher salt
For the tomato chutney:
4 large tomatoes, peeled and chopped (about 3 cups)
1/2 teaspoon cayenne powder
1 tablespoon champagne vinegar
1 tablespoon ground cumin
salt to taste
For the tuna:
4 tuna steaks, 6 to 8 ounces each
fresh marjoram chopped
salt and pepper
olive oil (about 1/4 cup)
Preparation
Make the black beans: In a large heavy sauce pot add the beans and enough water to cover the surface of the beans. Add the chopped onion, the chile powder, the cumin and the salt and mix well. Bring to a boil over medium high heat, reduce the heat and simmer for 1 hour, or until the beans are soft, adding more water if necessary. Cool, drain any excess water and reserve.
Make the tomato chutney: To a sauce pot add the tomatoes, the cayenne powder, the champagne vinegar and the ground cumin. Bring to a boil over medium heat and simmer until the tomatoes soften (about 5 minutes). Add salt to taste and reserve.
Make the tuna: Season the tuna with salt, pepper and marjoram. Heat a grill to very hot stage (or cast iron skillet to almost white hot). Brush the tuna with olive oil and sear the tuna on each side (about 1 minute per side). Remove and assemble the dish immediately.
Assembly: In the center of each of 4 plates place 1/4 of the bean mixture. Place a tuna steak on each mound and place three dollops of the tomato chutney around each of the steaks. Serve immediately. Serves 4.

This is one that I have (not sure if it is on the above listed page or not)
Heat a nonstick skillet with 1 tbsp olive oil over medium-high heat.
Add 1/2 can (2 oz.) white tuna in water, drained.
(Optionally, add chopped frssh spinach or other veggies, but it'll lose its mac & cheesiness)
Flake into small pieces with wood/plastic spoon.
Season with black pepper, salt and spices. My favorite so far is McCormack's Montreal Chicken (skip the salt when using this), Wasabi powder and red pepper flakes.
When tuna appears heated and oil is semi-absorbed, add 1/4 cup egg whites (or 2-3 whites and a whole egg) and REDUCE heat to medium-low.
Add 2 slices of fat free cheddar, torn into strips.
Scramble together until mixture is fairly homogenous.
Stats (with no yolks)
300 cal
15g fat, 2g saturated
5g carb
35g protein
Prep time: under 10 mins.
It tastes like Mac & Cheese !

Okay - Somebody in here is probably gonna puke when they read this...but I love spicy food. And I have found a nifty little way to shovel in some tuna.
Put some hot sauce on your tuna. Tobasco or even those left over packets of hot sauce from taco bell are fine (I got them form my buddies at work cause they know I'll use em)
I just open a can, drain off the water splash on some hot sauce and grab a fork. It's easy and it pretty well totally masks the taste of tuna. An easy snack. yum

Use Tahini instead of Mayonnaise. 4g of Protein, 9g of Fat (good fats) per tablespoon.

What is Tahini exactly and can I get it at any supermarket? (Where would it be located?)

Jimbo...that's not that odd, especially from a southwesterner.
A simple salad that I would always pack for lunch.
1 can of drained tuna
2 cups of FRESH baby spinach
1 large carrot cut up
handful of cherry tomatoes
2tbs of grated hard cheese (I like PARMIGIANO REGGIANO)
balsamic vinager to taste
directions:
stick it all in a bowl...mix it up...eat it
pasta salad with tuna
5oz fresh tuna steak
1/2 cup of prepared orzo
1tbsp lemon juice
1tbsp quality olive oil
2tbs of feta cheese (I like cheese)
**seasoning to taste**
Sea Salt
Pepper
Parsley (fresh is best)
Herb of preference (mint, basil, dill)
directions:
Pan fry the tuna so that it's very crisp on the outside (I use a tbs of olive oil over a low flame to cook it slow and have it crisp up good). Add remaining ingrediants together in a mixing bowl...combine. You can flake the tuna if you want, or serve it on the side.
grilled teriake tuna
tuna steak
I can't remember the EXACT proportions of the sauce so bear with me a little and experiment
1 cup of soy sauce
2 tbs of sesame seed oil
1/4 cup of lemon juice
1/2 cup of brown sugar.
combine sauce ingredients in a saucepan (surprise!) and stir over a medium\med. high heat untill it comes to a boil. reduce heat to simmer and continue stirring for about 5 minutes or untill the sauce is thick and bubbly.
Grill the tuna according to your directions (however you want to grill it) after some of the fat has drained off brush with the teriyake sauce that you just made. Turn...brush...turn...brush... remove from heat and eat with your favorite sides!

As a sushi lover who can't afford sushi on a regular basis . . . .
Cook up some basmati rice, toss in a tin of tuna, and add soy w/ wasabi to taste. It's my C+P meal an hour after the gym. I freaking love it - more for the wasabi than anything else, but meh. . .

A tuna idea
I cannot understand how anyone can not like tuna!
1. Lazy man's "onigiri"
"onigiri" btw is a rice ball (check out the signature I live in Japan) Anyway take some rice( must be wet sticky kind - called japonica long grain) and stick some tunna in it and roll into a ball. Hence the term rice ball. But if any of you actually try this, you will probably get aq mushy ball that tastes like crap- at l;east that is what happens when I do- So throw a can of tuna in a bowl with white rice and mix it up- It actually taste good if the rice is hot as the heat from the rice heats up the tuna- it works well with salmon too.
2. Hit a sushi shop

I don't know portions, cause I don't use 'em!
Mix can of tuna with lime juice and prefered spices - i use chile powder, pepper, salt
Lightly fry in skillet
Top with cheese
*The lime juice covers up the tuna flavor pretty well.

My lunchtime favorite, right now, is to mix a can of tuna with a cup of 1% cottage cheese. I usually throw in some garlic, green onions, and black pepper. If you dont mind eating the carbs you can make a sandwich or wrap out of too.
I have some "pickled" habanero garlic gloves that are awesome to mash into the mix. My wife hates this recipe btw...cant figure out why? garlic tuna breath??

my mom got this carb options bbq sauce stuff at the dollar store. it has only 50 calories and is basically a whole bunch of nothing-but it does taste somewhat like bbq sauce. i preheat my oven to like 350 and stick 2 pieces of whole wheat bread in there to toast as it preheats. meanwhile, i take a can of tuna, add some of the bbq sauce and wait for the oven. put the tuna on the bread and top with some cheddar or american or w.e cheese we have on hand. me likey

I must be the only guy here who actually likes the taste of tuna. Oh well.
A good way to mask it is with mustard and pepper. Make tuna salad. Just dump a can or two in a bowl, mix in mustard to tolerance, add some dill pikle relish or whatever, use pepper or any other spices you like, mix it up, add to whole wheat bread or toast, and all you'll know is that your eating nearly pure protien.

I love tuna. It's funny to see all the posts talking about covering up the taste.
