I've only had these at PF Changs, a chain that is at least in Austin, Texas. They are probably elsewhere but I've not eaten at these anywhere else.

Anyway, I was experimenting with my own version of these tonight. I often just cook with whatever is available and tonight it was chicken breasts and iceberg lettuce about to go bad. I used Five Spice on one batch of chicken and the usual garlic, onion and ground pepper on the other. I diced the chicked once it was cooked to use in the wraps. I had some tomatoes that I threw in just because. I thought it was very tasty and will try it again.

Maybe John or someone has tips on improving on this idea...?

There is a Chang's in Marlton, NJ, right near a super LL Bean.

But as far as lettuce goes, my favorite, with romaine, is a grilled Caesar salad. Wrap the romaine around the parmesan and dressing and grill over charcoal for about 5 minutes.

I took this idea and combined it with the "Mexican" Sauce that I posted in this forum. It was good, but a little messy

I love those wraps at PF Changs. I was thinking of messing-around with a recipe like this myself, but haven't gotten around to it. Sounds like you've done it though, how were they?

My idea was to stir-fry chopped chicken breast with onions, garlic, chopped ginger, chopped water chestnuts, and kikkoman teriaki sauce. Then wrap it up in some iceburg. Maybe I'll give this a try tonight...

They were GREAT!!! It's like with tortillas, you're only limited by your imagination in terms of what you can wrap up in them... but these can be HEALTHIER! I may have inspiration for dinner tonight!

There's also a place out here called the 'Yardhouse', which in addition to their record # of beers on tap, have some OUTSTANDING lettuce wraps. I'm a vegan and they have a great portobello / tofu wrap. I think the KEY to a great lettuce wrap is the LETTUCE. Got to be a huge, crisp piece of iceberg...none of that butter lettuce shit

My problem is that I just don't like iceburg lettuce. The filler sure looks good though. I make some pretty good wraps too. My wife makes spring rolls, Thai style, with shrimp, some really HOT spices, cilantro, etc. Mmmmm... Making me hungry just typing about it.
