Default Can't Search?

I can't seem to work the search function. I know HOW to, so I know that isn't the problem, but every time I attempt one it says that nothing meets my criteria.

TIA!

Maybe because there isn't anything that meets your criteria? What are you searching for?

I was having the same problem yesterday looking for the word "ball" and then I looked through a couple pages and did find threads with the word in them, but it kept telling me no results. And I'm at work, not a wireless connection for what it's worth.

Thanks for chiming in!

I am pretty nearly a pro-searcher so I knew I was doing everything right. Guess it was the forum.

It's working for me. I searched both words you listed and I made up a few other searches. Let me know if it persists.

Aye, it's not working for me either. Casey brings up zero results on both Opera and Internet Explorer. Sad times.

I've found that the Google search function works fine, but the other one doesn't.

After reading this post I tried searching "PlankIt" and got responses from the first location but not the second.

Can you use the Google search function at the very top?

Yep, the Google Search version works just fine. It's a good substitute in the meantime, though traditional forum search functions tend to be superior to searches via Google.

why would you search the forums for your user name? Most likely it will only record the text of responses for general search, so unless someone uses your name in a post (like you just did) it would find nothing. If you want to search for your posts or threads started by you, those are other search options (using forum search). My guess is that Google search looks at the whole page rather than the post content that the specific forum search would use.
But that's all just speculation.

The search isn't working very well for me. It's not finding things that are more than a week or so old.

Exactly. Don't tell me you've never searched the forums to see the compliments, insults, or comments people have given about LisaS. =P

Roland raises an interesting point. A search for the word 'forums', for example, only brings back things from June 16th or later. Was June 16th the date the forums were revised? If so, then maybe the search only finds things from after the forums were changed.

you're right, older posts don't seem to be retrieved on the keyword search. But old posts will come back on the "by user" or "started by user" searches.
