Go To First New Post issue
I clicked on one and it took me to 2005. But, I've looked at that thread plenty, since then.
It was the Kid Pics thread, if that matters.

im not sure if one of the other admins have been tinkering with the forum settings. i'll try refreshing the post cahse in maintenance to see if that helps any.
is it when you click on a thread youve read in the past and then clicked the first unread link at the top?

It's threads that I've read in the past, yes. It's in the views that list all the threads in that subforum OR the "New Posts" view, etc. When I click "Go To First New Post" icon. The little down arrow just to the left of the thread's title.

hi all
ive changed the settings for these so that any posts unread info etc is stored locally on a cookie on your pc, rather than in the database. to see if this helps.
the swap over may wipe out any info you have on which posts read, and which not read etc, but once you finish catching up, mark all threads as read, then from there on out, it should be easier.
can you let me know if this helps or not. and if it fixes the problem
thanks
susie

Oh no. This isn't a good solution! At least not for me. My browser deletes cookies when I close it, so all this information was lost. When I click on New Posts it says there aren't any! I know there are. I can see them. All threads show up as read.

Oh, and when you repeatedly use the "New Posts" feature, the new posts don't get updated (i.e, disappear).

me too.
and when I use New Posts (not unread posts on a thread) - usually there is then a break & a notice that the threads below have not been updated but contain unread posts (or something like that)
that seems to have disappeared now.

It happened again after the swap back. So, maybe three times total.

Hmmm..
It seemed to work correctly for me the past times that I did it.. I will try a few more times and then work with Susie on getting the vBulletin team to look into it with us.
Thanks!

its related to the SEO url's. it never happened until that came into force.
can those who do still have the problem please post which browser their using, and if the same problem occurs for them on different browsers. (if you use IE can you try it on Firefox or another one, to see if that helps any) and let me know here if its happening for both.
also, for those its happening to, is it on every post or just the ocassional one?
there has to be a common factor thats causing it. most arnt experiencing this, so we need to find out what the link is between those that are experiencing it.

I'm using firefox on XP. But, it's only happened three times total, from what I can tell. It's only happened once since you changed the cookie/database thing back. I'll try explorer again, but it's been so rare, how knows how long 'til something goes wrong?
