Is there anyone in the NYC area that goes rock climbing, cause its something that Ive been wanting to do for a while now, and would love to try it. (well, no one I know has the experience to do it either).

Have you looked into any climbing gyms in the area? You can usually find someone there that would know places to go and you can start learning.
