Just in case any of you locals missed this in the paper this morning:
Center plans to rope in competitive climbers
By Celia Storey
Climbing the wall with boredom is nowhere near so much fun as climbing the wall with rope.
Little Rock Climbing Center offers a chance for competitive wall-climbers to climb this weekend at Rock Madness 2005. Less-than-competitive climbers are welcome to come watch.
Owner Logan Wilcoxson expects 30 or more teens and adults from around the region to register Saturday for this USA Climbing-sanctioned contest. Climbers will prove their skills on top-rope routes, boulder problems and lead climbs. They will complete as many routes as they can within three hours and be ranked by their best times.
Entry costs $30 ($25 for USA Climbing members and team members).
Registration opens at 8 a.m. in the center at 12120 Colonel Glenn Road, Little Rock. The competition will run from 9 a.m. to noon, with awards from noon to 1 p.m.
More information is available from Wilcoxson at (501) 227-9500 or online at
