Hey guys...

I'm going to an indoor climbing gym on Friday night for the first time.. I have been wanting to try climbing for a long time and I'm really looking forward to it. Any advice?

Just kidding. How did you like it? Careful, it's addictive!

I haven't done it yet. it looks like I'm going on Sunday instead of Friday. My wife has gone a few times and she liked it. She is not really into working out so I'm hoping it can become a form of exercise we can do together.

The place I went was called Planet Rock. The walls were about 50 or 60 feet high. WOW was that fun!!!!!!

After we went through training on knot tying and bilaying (SP?) they let us loose on the walls. I thought I would be a little scared after I got off the ground but I wasn't. I made it about 10 feet from the top on my first climb before my arms gave out and I could not hold on any more. I made a total of three climbs, made it to the top once and had a blast!!

I'm already trying to schedual another visit but I have to wait until my ability to grip things comes back.

Like I said... Addictive! Quite a workout too, I might add. I just designed a little workout for beginning climbers (assuming you climb once or twice a week)... Hopefully I will post it soon (if I have time).

Hey JP -

I'm looking forward to your climbing workout. It's expensive to go to the climbing gym and it would be nice to show up ready to get my money's worth.

Joe

I would like to see the workout myself. I'm not sure how often I'll actually be climbing but it would be fun to go and be able to do more than 3 climbs...

I'm up to climbing 2-3 times a week now, but I'm still hoping to get to the point where I can lift my body weight with 1 arm. I saw someone climbing this overhang board with parallel ridges on it. He was just climbing hand over hand while hanging there, no feet at all. I want to be able to do that
