General Outdoor Fun DiscussionWhether you rock climb, kayak, snowboard, hike or hang glide, if you play outside and you play hard, come talk about it in here.
I've been there. I actually have a membership there. I haven't been in a while because I am trying to get back up in practice on my guitar and it really beats up my hands. BTW, I am playing at your church this weekend again. What time does the service start?
We need a group trip sometime soon. I'll let you know when I'm going if you let me know when you are going.
JP, church starts at 10:30 but you should be there about 10:15 to set up. I won't be there I'll be worshiping to the God of dirt roads and single track out near lake sylvia with Lisa.

Um, when ya'll go, can I come too? I haven't ever been there and haven't climbed in two years so I know I will be rusty. Has anyone planned a trip there lately?
I'm off watching my nephews today and tomorrow and thought they would like this. Is it kid friendly? They are 7 and 4...according to the site, the little one has to be at least 5. I'm assuming it's harnessed like when they have the climbing walls at events.

Did someone say climbing? I'm in! Of course, at the weight I'm at, it won't be pretty, but I swear that soon I'll be back to my climbing weight and form!
I've been trying to get together to climb and ride and raft with JP for over a year now, but I can't seem to get down to LR and he is so freakin' busy, he can't leave his little dominion.
Cappy,
I have taken my son there a few times. He really likes it. Wish I could go with you and give you a climbing lesson. Tomorrow is booked up solid though. I hate how busy my life has gotten in the last few months. I have no life whatsoever!
Don't know how I missed these, but I have a plan now!
Kaiser & Becka book your flights! I'll find a time when JP is in the gym & ask him to make a smoothie for me. Becka will sneak around and lock the doors and windows. Kaiser will then pop in to talk business. When you've gotten all the information you need, we'll all carry him out to the climbing gym. Probably could even get Outdoorboy to drive the getaway bike

Wow, you do have the 'dreamer' mind huh? Rube Goldberg would be proud! And the thought of Joe as a pseudo-rickshaw driver just makes me laugh!
Here's some pics of gyms I hit in 2002 with a group of friends:
Me on the 100 foot wall at Lakeshore Athletic Club in downtown Chicago. It's the tallest indoor wall in Illinois and a blast strictly for the length of the climb. It is set inside a building and you can see the floors that ring the wall going up. The cool thing was the thick leather seats so you could sit down while you belay with grigris - true luxury!
Another view. Smile for the camera!
My 2002 climbing gang, as well as good friends outside the gym:
LOL. The only reason I was up so late was to listen to my Northwestern Wildcats, who were playing their last game of the football season in Hawaii, start time 10PM, CST. The game was just wrapping up as I posted these. They needed a win to go 7-5 and be bowl eligible, but they lost in a heartwrenching defeat 49-41 (they were driving on Hawaii's 20 yard line with 71 seconds left and a bad call said the ball was intercepted when replays showed it wasn't).
