Default My first climb...

I've just come back from my first climb. An "easy" Grade 9 climb up a granite cliff.

It was without a doubt The. Hardest. Thing. I. Have. Ever. Done. In. My. Life.

I wish I could say that I'm buzzing with adrenaline, but I'm pooped, bruised and battered.

Heading off to a hot bath now...

Welcome to the forum BT.

It gets easier - and more addictive. Then you make it harder. And it gets more addictive.

Thanks Kaiser!

Yep, I can see how that works. I'm looking forward to my next climb.

My husband and I are doing our first climb at the end of this month. I'm really excited!

Good for you!

It will probably be a lot tougher than you expect, but as Kaiser says, strangely addictive.

Enjoy the view.

Hey, BlueTuna, good for you!

I just got into some indoor climbing with my daughter. But, I already posted about that in another thread. Didn't see this one.

Gonna keep at it?

The indoor place is about 10 minutes from our house. Easy to pop down there. Back in the day in St. Louis, it was a bit of a trip to get out of town to climbing sites, particularly without a car. Here in more rural northern MN, there are outdoor options all over the place, including right in the city, I think.

Best wishes!

Yep.

The best thing about the climb was how it's changed my attitude. When I go indoor climbing now, I no longer get half-way up a challenging wall, think it's too hard, then come down again. You can't do that on a cliff face, so why would you do it on a climbing wall?

Agreed. But that doesn't mean I don't do it sometimes. I look at the indoor walls as places to push it that I would never do outside (yet).
