Default didn't see a new members thread...

Hi everyone,
I didn't see a thread for new members to say hi, so if there is one then I'm off to a bad start! I'm not sure where my focus needs to be, whether it's "weight loss" or "bulking up", because I need some of both. I'm a 32 YO male, about 155 lbs and 5'8".

This may sound silly, but I do not have a "normal" natural physique, structure, or even proportions, so I'm going to really have my work cut out for me. I've done the gym on and off over the years, and my body is very resistant to change. I am not big, but I have had a belly and man-boobs for as long as I can remember (and it's grown over the years), but I have very skinny legs and arms, and what I consider to be severely underdeveloped muscle groups throughout my body. Even during my longest and most dedicated stints with proper diet, exercise, and even a trainer, my body has been very stubborn.

I did see a spot for before and after pics, so if people are willing I'd love to post some pics for advice on what might be the best way for me to go about getting toned up and at least into "not-embarassed-at-the-beach" shape.

Again, sorry if I missed a "new-members" thread, hope to learn from and contribute to the boards!

Welcome!

There isn't really a new members thread, so nothing to worry about there. There is a lot of good information in the various threads, so feel free to look around.

You can also start a training log on this site. It's a great place to post your workouts and diets, rant about things (I do that a lot) and get feedback from others.

Welcome.

Hey, SFG. (And everyone else)

I'm sort of in the same boat- 34 years old, never worked out or paid much attention to my diet a day in my life. So, I'm not terribly fat, but just kind of soft and out of shape.

Now, I'm freshly divorced after 10 years marriage, and the singles' scene has made me acutely aware of my poor condition.

I have three kids, two jobs, and almost no free time. I need absolute maximum return on my efforts. I don't have time to read 50 fitness books or experiment on myself forever!

So, where do I start? Exercise? Nutrition? Bodybuilding? What's the best approach to get me on the right path? Get a trainere? Read a book? Join a cult?

I'm sooo lost. Can anyone even point out a good message post that might help?

Thanks,
Andrew

Hey and welcome to both of y'all

This is a good place to start. I recommend starting a training log and starting to familiarize yourself with the site.

You lose weight in the kitchen, and exercise is vital to improving healthy, etc etc.

Just poke around and start reading other's logs and such. Ask questions and jump in. It is like anything else, it becomes a mixture of exercise, nutrition, and a good dose of stick-to-it-ness.

Of course, a cult may be just the thing for you as well. You don't have to read any books and usually they even provide clothing, that certainly may be something worth considering.
