Default ALERT: Jupiter Study - take Statins

Some of you may go for a physical checkup, more likely your parents, and find yoursellf/themself being put on statin drugs for cholesterol or because C Reactive Proteins (CRP) are elevated.

The new study the doctor will have read is the Jupiter Study, which seems to indicate that statins are just the thing for whatever ails you. You will want to do some of your own research.

Dr Eades (protein power) has looked this over, and in the comments section are several links

Jenny (Blood Sugars 101) has done the same.

Statins did reduce fatalities in this large group, but not by much

It claimed there were no more side effects on the statin side than the placebo side. NO ONE I am reading believes this.

Diabetes increased by 25% amongst the statins group.

The study seemed to be written to show an improvement by taking statins (funded of course by the maker of yet another new statin drug), and was stopped two years early. And when death rates seemed to be converging. There was no discussion of the 25% who dropped out.

DISCLOSURE: after ignoring the anti-statin group, I got hit by what seems to be statin poisoning in May. Symptoms are resolving, the severe fatigue is merely fatigue at the end of most days now. I am in the ANTI camp.

ps - I will summarize the studies I read, if asked, but recommend you read the two short ones I recommend yourselves.

I thought fish oil was the cure-all. No, wait, it's vitamin D now. OMG, that is SO last week, my bad.
