Glad to hear of people with good experiences... I have a surgery date of Jan 9th for my own Lasik! (EEK!)
FWIW, I was not a textbook success. My first LASIK was great, I could see by the time I got home, read the closed-captions on the tv, etc etc... 20/25 on the first checkup... and then I healed. And got fuzzier and fuzzier, til I was back in glasses (started around 6 diopters correction with astigmatism in both eyes, ended up around 2.5 to 3 diopters after my eyes reverted partway to their former vision).
I had to wait a year til my eyes stopped changing AGAIN... then had 2nd LASIK (on both eyes). Thank goodness, the 2nd time was 6 years ago and I'm still 20/20 or 20/25 (depending when you measure it) and I'm thrilled. And no reading glasses yet, even though they thought I might end up with 'em by now...
The surgery was guaranteed, but they sure did make it difficult to schedule my free redo...
And yet, I'd gladly do it all again cuzI LOVE LOVE LOVE not having to wear glasses and getting to buy cute sunglasses
Yeah, I'm worried about needing to have a re-do. I have very bad astigmatism too. I'm not sure what the actual diopter measurements are, but I have a lot of trouble with contacts so I end up in my glasses almost 24/7... which I hate! I'm really looking forward to it, but I hope I don't need an "enhancement" down the road...
Thanks for sharing your experience!
I had it done a few years ago - went from "practically blind" to seeing pretty darn good - I'm not 20/20, but close. And now that I'm <cough, cough> OLD, I do need to wear reading glasses when I'm working on the 'puter or reading or doing crafts, but otherwise, NO GLASSES. I would DEFINATELY do it again - in a heartbeat!!
