I some blood drawn recently and I figured while they where taking some blood to the lab why not test my T-levels. So I asked my Doc and she asked my whey I wanted her to do that. I told her cus I workout a lot and seem to not get the results I should be getting from the amount of effort I put in. So I got the test back a few weeks ago and it turns out my T-levels are very low. Wierd thing is I shave every other day, have a deep voice, etc. So I am gonna get some other tests done to make sure everything is working well inside me. My question what should I do about these low T-levels? I know it's affecting me putting on muscle and it's frusturating as hell. Any advice? BTW, I am going to talk to my Doc tommorow about this too cus I am getting some more tests done. Thanks.
I asked my doctor - actually asked my GP and urologist - and neither one was willing to do the extra test. They didn't refuse but they have both given me kind of given me excuses every time to discourage me. I succumbed each time and never had it tested. I thought it must have something to do with the way my insurance bills (okay, I'm cynical) but the end result is that it's never gotten tested.
I guess, to answer your question, what you do is keep working out and get lots of rest. These help a lot. If they find that your level of T is low, you might get a prescription for supplemental T, such as in a patch. Gardner has openly talked about getting the patch and the benefits he has experienced. ZMA and possibly other products (?) are supposed to increase T levels but ZMA also improves sleep so don't know what the actual mechanism is.
Ah man I would see what your doc has to say about that first and foremost which it sounds like you are doing. Although I believe they may have prescription medication to normal out hormones to more acceptable levels whether be a direct or indirect method (medicine aiding thyroid, pituitary, etc vs. straight hormone) but I'm definately not a doctor here.
But say it ends up something like, "you have naturally lower T levels with no sign of abnormalities and it shouldn't cause any physical or mental harm" then I would consider other things. First of all...you should know normal T levels for males is 300–1,000 nanograms per deciliter. Once you knew where your levels were you could start trying natural methods to help increase...just so happens you probably already do a lot of the main methods such as weight training and proper nutrition (actually don't know if nutrition plays any role at all but it couldn't hurt). Oh, and make sure you get plenty of sex. Sorry I don't have a broader list for you but I'm kind of in a rush. I'll check back later, good luck.
My doc mentioned over the phone that it may be caused cus my body is in a starvation mode and my t-levels could increase if I eat more. The thing is at the the time of the test I was having around 2500-2700 cals a day. I have since realized I need to eat a lot more(I needed to get over a mental barrier to eat more and have done this) and am now eating 3000-3200 cals a day and and increasing that to 3500+. My doc also mentioned that I might be in the starvation mode cus I am in too good of health...yea hard to believe. What my doc meant is that I might be excersisng too much and since I am young with a high metabolsim, not eating enough and getting too much excersise is leading to these low levels. I dunno...I will talk to the doc tommorow and see what else is going on. All I know is it sux that I have low t-levels cus I spend so much time eating will and lifting and I feel that it's all going to waste as far as building muscle.
Overtraining and a caloric deficit can definately impact your T-levels but I don't know how severe in terms of n/d. But you would know if you were overtrained...scientifically speaking, you would feel like shit. 2500-2700 doesn't seem that drastic to me.

That's what I was thinking. But at 2500-2700 I was not feeling very energetic and was getting tired a lot. Now, I feel a lot better. I think it's possibiie that I have a super high metabolisim and need to consume a boat load of food.
Anyways, I had an MRI today so they could check out my pituatatry gland...should get the results monday and I'll talk to my doc then.
