I had no idea that people even participated in 50 mile races. That is crazy. Congrats.

Awesome work Jim! That is quite an accomplishment, and looks like lots of fun.

Did you carry that water bottle with you the whole way?

I grew up hiking on the Ice Age trail in WI. Where is the one you did?

Thanks, Craig. I loved every minute of it.

Did you carry that water bottle with you the whole way?
Yes. It has a strap on it that wraps around my hand so I don;t have to grip it.

This started near the small town of La Grange- About 20-30 miles (?) SW of Milwaukee.

Congrats, that is an amazing accomplishment!

Contrary to what Buk said, that is not my idea of fun. I can't even begin to imagine what 50 miles on foot would be like.

Thanks, Paul. The entire thing is like a dream. I know I did it, but I'll be damned if I can remember all of the particulars. Of course, it did take almost 10 hours!

Why the color of your shirt from the first 2 pictures is different from the last other 2 pictures? Have you manage to change your shirt in the middle of the run??!!

Probably to give all of the sponsors equal visibility

Yes, it was definitely long enough to change shirts. I had a dropbag with a clean, dry shirt, socks, and even shoes at about halfway. I can assure you that it's the little things that get you through a race like that and being able to change into dry socks and shoes was one of the best feelings I've had on a run!

Thank you! It's been a month and a half since I ran that race and I still think about it daily. I can't wait to run another ultra.

Jeez! It's like someone said, "ya know... 26.2 miles killed the messenger who ran from Greece to Sparta, so why don't we double it and see what that does?"

Congrats on your first Ultra. You going to eventually do a 100-miler? We've got a great one here in Arkansas.

Thanks, JP! And that's exactly the attitude! It was about seeing what I could do, what I could endure; finding out my limits. Not just the race, either. I spent a significant amount of time out on the trails leading up to this. That being said, since I did 50, a 100-miler is now a goal.

BTW, this was actually my third ultra. I did a 50K and a 33.5 mile race leading up to this one.

Hey twinsvsvikingsfan where did you buy that water bottle in your pictures. I was looking for one that I could use on my long runs.
