Default New member with a "before" picture.

Hi everyone,

I'm new to this forum, and new to fitness. I'm just getting started on getting my body into the shape I'd like it to be in. I've ordered the "New Rules of Lifting" book, and the "Afterburn" fat loss manual, and the "Naked Nutrition" guide.

I've already started eating better, cutting out sugar and junk food, etc. I've lost a few pounds already, but I've got a long way to go. I'm 5 ft 10" and I'm currently 228 lbs. I'm also recovering from some pretty major knee/ankle/leg injuries, I've had my ACL and PCL replaced and have a bunch of titanium holding my left leg together.

I figured that part of knowing where I want to go is being honest about where I'm at, so I thought I'd post a picture of how I look right now, even though it's a little embarassing. I know that I've got a lot of fat and not much muscle, but everybody has to start somewhere, right?

I've already received the "Afterburn" manual, so I'll be starting with that program. I'll be tracking what I'm eating using fitday, and will do my best to follow the program exactly as written. I'm hoping to post some follow up pictures of my progress as I lose fat and gain muscle.

Anyways, here's the picture, as promised, but I've gotta warn you, it isn't pretty.

Thanks,
Randy

Our starting pictures rarely are. Congrats on getting started and good luck with the afterburn program. Another tool that may be helpful for you is keeping a log on the forum. I have found it a great way to stay motivated and get feedback when you need it (an some good natured ribbing as well).

Brother, you've got nothing to apolgize for. Good for you that you are taking agency for your health, and that you have the guts to cowboy up and post a shirtless pic.

One good thing, kinda, when you are starting off and you maybe have a ways to go is that the improvements are quick, visible and encouraging. Congrats on your intitial progress, and I am sure you will continue to see progress.

Post Hi,

Hi,

Best thing is to first avoid all those things which have fats in it.Jogging is best for your fitness.Daily morning walk and an apple makes you a shield against all illnesses.Use juices of fruits. This is easy way to reduce your fat.Just slowly slowly move on your this way at daily basis.

Thanks,

Steven Ponting.

Avoid fat? Jog? A walk and an apple? Fruit juice?

Um.....that's really not any way to build a healthy and STRONG body (which is what the OP states he is after).

^^ considering that was his first and only post from more than 1 month ago I wouldn't worry too much about the content.

So the only advice he could come up with was An apple a day keeps the doctor away. Thanks but you can do better than that.
