AF = air force physician? That's all i ever think when I see AF
yup. Slave to the system for another 6 years, 6 months, and 4 days... but who's counting?
Lucky me, I am currently NOT deployable; there isn't a huge cry for dermatologists in Baghdad (yet) although there is an army dermatologist stationed there now. Scary.
I anticipate sand in my cammies at some point before I can sign the dotted line to get out. So what's this AF temp thing?
There are a lot of beautiful ladies here. I've got to get busy if I have any hope of comparing, the Summit isn't that far away! (And guys, you can bet THESE pics aren't airbrushed!! :p

The AF temp thing is just a combined name. the temp is actually short for temperance, which was a name i was given as a screen name back in college when I was involved with some online stuff. When i was coming up with a screen name I thought 'temp' by itself would be dumb, so I added AF. Creative right?
And yup, to answer that other question: I'm at wright-patt, have been for almost 4 years now. I'm separating in the spring though. Kind of dislike the whole developmental engineering thing. a lot. I spent a few years trying to cross-train, assignment team wouldn't budge, so I'm going to separate and get a civilian version of the job (I was trying to go OSI, as it is it looks like I may end up being a reservist agent). I'm still job hunting though...nothing like the insanely long hiring process for some federal law enforcement jobs.
I knew we had some great ladies on this forum and I was right. It sure is good to put some faces with the names. Thanks for all you do around here ladies.

Where are you stationed, Tina?
I'm at "lovely" Lackland AFB.... but will be PCSed to destinations unknown come July. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this ISN'T to AK, since I already did a non-vol Korea stint and my husband (well, not until next month, but close enough) is stuck in the Houston area with his job--that flight on a monthly basis would be awful.
Why is it the AF always puts up bases in the most disgusting of places? I mean, WP is not exactly in the center of anything resembling a cultural mecca, either... ugh!
Hmmm.... developmental engineering sounds like social experimentation--what does a DE do?

It depends on where you're stationed. Some of them are program managers for acquisitions projects for the air force. Some do developmental and operational test and eval (run test programs for new avionics or weapon packages for current/future aircraft for example). Some work at the research labs (and do very little from what I've seen). I got the one oddball assignment for engineers, I work at the intelligence center. Honestly, I'm glad that's where I ended up. At least there I get to see some interesting stuff and I'm not really doing anything engineering related. I was able to spend some time doing counterintelligence with a few federal agencies, and now it's more of the standard foreign intel stuff.
I like the air force and military and all that, but I'm separating because a career as an engineer in the air force isn't all that interesting to me. If I could have cross-trained into OSI I'd have probably stayed in for at least another 4 years.
I get the impression you haven't liked any of your bases so far :p I've only been to Maxwell and Wright-Patt, and WP is super extra awesome compared to maxwell. If I never see montgomery, AL again I'll be happy.

There is no comparing!!!! You can't come if you're going to compare!!!! Let's all just love ourselves (settle down, boys!), accept where we are in life and do our best...then we won't have to compare!! Please??
I PM'd Ruma but haven't heard back. Hopefully when she's on she'll respond.
There's also a certain Turbo Chick who promised several times to send in a picture but hasn't. She belongs in this thread, she's an important part of this forum. Maybe after she has her morning caffeine she'll respond.
And like RW said this is not for comparison. You are all incredible women and you bring your uniqueness to this forum. This is the best damn forum on the Internet because of that.

What part of Houston?

He'd have his work cut out for him from the looks of it. I'd sure hate to be on the receiving end of a kick delivered from one of those muscular legs!
Hahah! My ex-husband used to call them my "nutcrackers", although I don't think he meant it in the vulgar sense until just before the divorce, LOL!
Good strong German stock, here. I should probably change my name to Helga... but I am fighting genetics every step of the way. Thank goodness I overcame the flat butt that I started with... nothing looks worse (to my eye) than big strong legs and a wide pancake ass (sorry, mom).
