Um, no. That was taken a year ago. My knee is a little bitch that needs a shot or 7 of IGF-1.

I PM'd you a conference you should come to. Eric posted a thread on it in the training section: Syracuse Strength Spectacular. You can read about in there.

If I had stuck to "anything above 8-reps is only cardio", I wouldn't have found out that the rep range for strength (and growth) for my legs is above 10-reps. And I've been training for over 20-years and have used just about every rep range known to man (and woman).

It's called knowing your body. But it also shows you that more volume for a woman doesn't neccessitate 15-20 reps with five pound weights.

'hypertrophy for a woman' is no different than 'hypertrophy for a man' IMO.
But how a woman obtains hypertrophy is different in many cases.

I see Thundah has answered some of these and I'll just get back to my beer...and homework.

Well, okay. Just be aware there are possible longterm effects; not immediately noticeable.....

Heh, I'm sure the powers that be of this board love the fact that a topic on weight training in the Fitness section has been hijacked by a discussion on beer.

But I must get back to drawing some really poorly built male figure models for my anatomy course.

Naw. I still look great. Just the suckage factor on my knee makes me look a little less great than normally....haha.

Side Note: I think it's a rather strange occurance that whenever Thunder joins another site, hot women always follow....

I met up with Wild recently. She's over at www.worldfitness.com trying to beat some sense into the guys and gals that still think women will bulk up from too much weight lifting. She hasn't changed (she's still got enviable abs).

Okay, briefly checked out that site.

It was like a time tunnel BACK into the 70s. When are people going to move into the 21st century? When?

Props to anyone with the amount of patience necessary when providing training advice on that site. I surely don't have it and that's why I ain't evuh goin back there. Scary.

Agreed. They are doing muscle group and body-part splits and when I chimed in to tell them that type of workout died with the 80s, even the moderator piped-up and asked me for my reason. He asked how can he get the strength without pouring on the volume (in this case, blasting a single group with multiple exercises).

I pointed him to MR's "Program Design 101," Waterbury's "Set/Rep Bible," Men's Fitness "Body-part Splits Are Dead" article and my "Essential Reading" compilation.

I hope he actually took the time to read and not dismiss because it disagreed with his ideology.

UPDATE: I just had the mod over there say a push/pull or upper/lower split is a body-part split. Oy!

The moderator? That's scary.

I learned a long time ago that sites just like that are a lost cause. If people keep refusing (and it IS refusing) to learn to EXPAND their minds; to remove their heads from the sand - than so be it.

Karky: What Cynic said and what I originally said: that's whats wrong with that site. Full of people refusing to move their arses OUT of outdated training methodology.

As well as believing in "old wives tales" like women are gonna get HYOOOGE by training heavy or heavier. If that were true, I'd be as big as the Hulk by now. Just ain't true. At all.

Edit to add: So, okay they actually have a "Toning" forum?

yeah, but as i said, you gotta know who to listen too.. i was told to do full body routine 3 times a week. they first recommended i do the Bill starr 5x5, and i did.. now im on an Oly lifting routine. i know alot of them do body part splits.. i never liked that myself, but i think the site is comming along, ive heard alot about myths there and they say they arent true, like ATG squatting, that its bad for you, spot reduction myth and stuff like that.

but you are right, when i started surfing on this site, i was kind of amazed at how much more advanced this seems :P

LOL...I'm sorry if you feel that forum is legit, but it really is simply a matter of diet and exercise and there are forums covering that already.
