Default How Do You Improve The Business Aspect of PT

I've studied hands on from JP, Galya, Steve Cotter, John DeFendis, and more. I've read tons of literature thanks Galya, and continue to read to constantly improve. One thing I've noticed though...the more I learn and the better my programs get...I don't get more clients. I get great results with my clients. Consistly, men lose average of 30 lbs in 6-8 weeks and women lose 25 lbs in 6-8 weeks. There are other trainers killing it though with half the knowledge...They are just doing the business portion right. Sometimes exercise form with these trainers and their clients is so bad it's dangerous. Like they just walked off the street. Does anyone have any books that they would suggest on setting up your business as far as organization, paperwork, taxes, callbacks, followups, leads, marketing, etc? I'm not completely lost, in January I pulled in $17,000 in revenue alone, but I want those numbers to stay consistant. I usually stay around $4000. Any help is appreciated thanks

You pulled in $17,000 in January and YOU want advice??!?

Seriously, sounds like you're doing okay.

For me, The E-myth Revisited was the best business book I ever read. It scared the hell out of me and made me realize I had better correct a lot of things or my business would fail. Still implementing the recommendations of the book. Starting to get a few more referrals than before.

Yea, but that was only one month. I usually only bring in around $4000 per month. As a club with 12 trainers we usually pull in around $60,000. I want to learn the business aspect so I can keep $17,000 months consistantly coming.

Thanks for recommending the book. I'll have to check it out. Where can I pick it up at?

Any bookstore should stock it and Amazon has it. Get the exact title and not one of the others in the series, though. they all regurgitate the same material.

The e-myth was one of those eye opening perspective changing books for me too. I'll have to get it again soon if I can't find my copy. Another one that's really really good is Guerilla Marketing. There are tons of them in the series so just do an amazon search or something. I remember reading that book with a notebook on my lap to take notes of all my thoughts and ideas as I read it.

You can download it at iTunes too. Must agree whole-heartedly about the E-myth. Best book of its kind E-VUH!

Is the $4000 what you are taking home or is that gross revenue? Sounds pretty decent compared to what most trainers make. If your club has that many people and that much potential, stick with it. You are right... you just need to work on yourself. You have what it takes. I know from when you worked for me. You're always trying to improve yourself, and you are genuinely interested in helping your clients.

Your problem has never been knowledge but confidence. You're a little shy. You need to break out of that. Maybe you can break that out of you by stretching yourself a little... Try getting public speaking gigs like what I did here. Call around to companies and offer to give a free "lunch-n-learn" about fitness/nutrition. Make a good powerpoint to keep you on track, plan about a 30-45 minute talk, and about 10 minutes to answer questions.

You'll break out of that shy thing in no time, and you will rake in the clients. I got your text the other day... I will contact you later this week and help you put something together. Good luck!
