Default The Biggest Loser will be in my area looking for contestants

Which got me wondering-- is there a way, as a Personal Trainer to use this to my advantage? I'm sure their will be quite a crowd looking to be on the show and only a few will actually make the first cut.
Seems like a good opportunity but I cant figure out a way to really make anything work or if it is even a good idea to begin with..

And the other issue is time-- It is this Saturday (I just heard about it).

Any ideas or suggestions??

That is awesome. How do you market your services? Do you live in a metro area or small town?

Since the biggest loser is fresh in everyone's minds you should have a "Biggest Loser Special" you can give a free training session, or something special, maybe give a free 5 sessions package to your current clients for losing the most in a time period, it would cause your clients maybe to workout with you more.

It's one day and you'll have a captive audience to target. Make up some fliers that target the kind of people that audition for that show.

Boot camp style
Team building
Weekly group check-ins/weigh-ins
Partners for a support system and in workouts

These people are coming for what the show offers, so give them some of that, only better, because they don't get voted off.

Hey, maybe you'll get more than you can handle in one big group.

You might get chased away by security. You might buy Jillian Michael's book and have it on hand and out in the open so you can pretend you're there to get a autograph.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

AskTheTrainer:
I live about 45 minutes outside of the Detroit area.
I currently don't do much marketing or advertising; it's all through client referrals and a little through Face book (gained 2 clients there). I started training in a small gym but decided to go off on my own a couple months before the New Year. I currently am running a small home based business. My husband created a nice little studio setting in our basement. While it does have limitations, clients seem to really enjoy the private one-on-one setting.

Lost Dog--
Great idea on the fliers, that’s what I was kind of thinking too. My concern is how to hand them out(would they even allow that?) and how do I not look "cheesy" , you know?

Pete (a former TBL contestant) has a blog - and recently he has discussed the casting process - here is his first entry on the subject - I thought perhaps you would be interested in his description of what the applicants would experience to better plan your time (hit the standing in line time, but know to be wary of the production assistants who might give you the boot, that sort of thing)

Car flyers might be a simple, no contact way to get the word out there - different than walking the line just handing out paper.

Also et the press know what your doing, piggy back on the event. So if you offer a free trail session to all those who went to the casting, do a press release. If they are covering the biggest looser they might be happy to cover an event that impacts the local community.

With Lost Dog on the fliers, get down there and hammer them out. Would work great!

Sorry I didn't have time to post over the weekend.

LisaS- Thanks for the link. It was very helpful, especially since I ended up seeing Pete there.

Tom- Oh, that was a great idea to contact the media. Unfortunately, I just found out about it too late. I also had clients scheduled for Saturday morning so I knew I wouldn't even be able to make it over there till mid day. But thank you! Good advice and something to think about in the future.

I ended up going with fliers but the security was pretty tight, so we weren't able to do much promoting. I did however get inside and chatted with some of the crew and people in line. I was glad I went.

Thanks again for all the responses.
